Trump's pick for Navy secretary withdraws

U.S. President Donald Trump's pick for secretary of the Navy withdrew from consideration on Sunday, the second time a Trump nominee to lead one of the armed services bowed out because of government conflict-of-interest rules.

In a statement on Sunday, Bilden said that "after an extensive review process, I have determined that I will not be able to satisfy the Office of Government Ethics requirements without undue disruption and materially adverse divestment of my family's private financial interests."

He did what he felt was best for him. He didn't want to expose himself and his family to all of the brow beatings being thrown by the opposition.

He knows all, he sees all, or so his faithful (want to so therefore they do) believe.

That being said, I'm prefacing a proviso here irt the comparison I'm about to make in that it is a very narrowly defined one, but when I envision Trump lording over his generals and admirals, I see a remarkable similarity when reflecting on how those very competent and capable German generals of the WWII era felt about Hitler (their own little Napoleanic corporal) as our own flag rank officers must feel about Trump.

Regarding Trump's Secretaries of War, it would take very a select few self-sacrificing high ranking officers who felt the need to step up and try to minimize the potential disastrous damage that Trump is capable of should Trump feel the need to send our enemies a message from the pointy ends of a few thousands of our highly regarded diplomats by the names of Abrams, Raptor, Apache and Predator.

Let's hope Trump doesn't actually behave like the Buckaroo he seems to want to portray when it comes down to playing nuclear "who blinks first".

How is this kind of talk constructive, in any way? Strong internal anger is not healthy. Learn to accept that not everyone sees things from your POV. That doesn't make them bad people or deserving of venom.

Holy shit now federal ethics rules (in place before trump) are brow beatings from the opposition. BTW these were the same ethics rules that McConnell asked be met before the GOP would consider Obama's nominees back in 2009.

How hard is this to understand? Back in 2009 ethics problems were the Democrats' fault because their nominees were so bad they were having trouble meeting the standard. In 2017 it's the Democrats' fault again for browbeating fine public servants by saying they have to comply with ethics rules.

It's always the fault of Democrats, the only challenge is to figure out how.
