... Isn't so perfect or impenetrable after all!

"Human traffickers and drug smugglers have repeatedly sawed through the new sections of President Donald Trump’s border wall along the southern border, according to the Washington Post. Border agents told the paper that the gangs are adapting commercially-available cordless reciprocating saws that can be fitted with specialized blades that easily slice through the steel and concrete bollards in just a few minutes, making gaps large enough to smuggle humans and drugs through. Because of the height of the bollards, they can be easily pushed aside once they have been cut, according to engineers interviewed by the Post."

:D :D :D BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE! :D:D:D

"The agents also told the paper that smugglers are using super tall ladders to drop drugs and, in some cases humans, on the other side of the wall."

This just in: The current President of the United State is a steeped-in-ignorance moron!

Two thinks the wall fanatics need to acknowledge is maintenance cost and ineffectiveness.

I'll raise ya big government harrasing and abusing citizens in Texas, and 36 different acts waived by the head of DHS so they dont have to care about fucking shit up while they build it.

Don't get complicated. Some of those folks probably can't walk and chew gum at the same time.

I brought this up at work and asked people if they understand that lithium-powered saws are now cheap and everywhere,

Trump mentioned potentially using adamantium to prevent this. He got the idea from his youngest and most accomplish son.

I believe a chainsaw made from pure unobtainium can get through that.

Get some of that invisibility light-bending cloak that the Candians developed (as seen, or as not seen, rather, in this forum) and put it along the border. Migrants will get to the border and think the US isn't there any more, and go home again.

I mean, I expect the Canadians developed it with a mind to putting it along _their_ southern border.

Why would anyone be surprised by this? A fence is exactly that, a fence. It was never designed to be an impenetrable barrier. A fence is simply the first line in a layered system. Do we really need to pretend that this was going to be the complete solution?

"A layered system" is what we had before Trump's pointless wall. It doesn't work. As long as Americans are hiring, people are going to keep coming.

that's how it was sold. otherwise, why would people sign up to pay billions for something that is known to be by and large ineffective?

edit:
"A layered system" is what we had before Trump's pointless wall. It doesn't work. As long as Americans are hiring, people are going to keep coming.

also this. addressing the root causes - economic insecurity in central and south america, and US businesses willing to hire illegal immigrants - are the ways to address people migrating here. of course people will still want to move to the US, but the incentives for illegal immigration will be reduced significantly. a wall isn't going to stop someone who's already traveled thousands of miles and is willing to risk their life with a smuggler trying to get them across the border.

So what exactly has trump done? Doesn't seem like much to me. Maintaining the status quo isn't an accomplishment in my book.
