Hearing about the Arizona "Bamboo obsession" made me laugh. Making estimates of how much denier forced-audit operations were costing the public made me concerned. Seeing more stuff like this makes me puke.
The Arizona "Cyber-Ninja" episode was a gross waste of money and an endangerment to the public record of votes that had been cast.
Cyber-Ninjas had Arizona turn over every single last one of the entire populations of ballots. Their public-relations stunt took about six months, with their "workers" milling around and lolly-gagging amidst all those tables filled with ballots.
It could've taken less than a month. Random sampling could be done by the voter-registration offices or overseen by an agreed impartial master. (a) Design a proportionally-allocated sampling plan according to the precinct divisions within Arizona (or -- according to congressional districts at first). (b) Select an overall sample size that assures detection of a threshold level of voter-fraud that would change the outcome. If 1,000 ballot sample insures +/- 2% accuracy, likely 10,000 sample size would give you the necessary. (c) Discard all precincts/counties/congressional districts with no incidence of fraud. (d) Examine those jurisdictions that showed some minimal level of fraud -- 100% of their populations.
Done. Expected time to completion: probably at most a month. Accuracy -- scientifically unassailable, despite the cornpone ignoramuses who don't understand how a sample of 1,000 will guarantee +/- 2% accuracy from a population of millions.
Millions and millions of dollars, wasted to serve ignorance. A waste of the public's time tracking the story on the news.
No forgiveness for those people. Looking back on our 19th century history and forward to how those traditions infect today's degradation of government, I say the Blues should finish it this time without Lincoln's mercy. Make William Tecumseh Sherman and Thaddeus Stevens look like Sheri Lewis and Lamb-Chop.
