It’s really fucked up that this narcissist would use something like this to puff himself up. A school shooting? That’s what you’re going to use to show how tough you’d be?

I doubt a single person would believe he’d do anything but run and hide.
I'll bet he really believes. I don't even mean that sarcastically. I think he actually believes he would run in. He's pathological.

Cadet Bone Spur to the rescue?

He knows he wouldn't have a golf cart there for him to use, right? That there might be stairs involved at some point?

Maybe he went to the Sean Hannity Academy of Ballistic Death?

Who knows if he actually believes it? A narcissist is wedded to an idealized version of himself, and conveys that version to others every chance he gets. Whether he consciously believes it or not is probably quite blurry in his own mind. The typical narcissist is not introspective so the truth or falsity of his claims is largely unconsidered. The narcissist tells people the things he wants to believe are true of himself, but doesn't spend a lot of time thinking about whether those things are really true or not because the projected image is the point, not truth or reality, and spending too much time thinking about whether it's really true could yield a conclusion at odds with the idealized image.

If Trump ran into the school to save the kids, some hate-filled liberal probably would have just stuck out a leg and tripped him. He was much safer at the disco.

Prove it Mr. President, I want to see you run one lap around a good American Football field, then at the end punch a punching bag as hard as you can.
Then go to your handler who has the oxygen tank

Now that Trump has said this he should probably avoid ever visiting a school. Some deranged psychopath with a gun will be laying in wait to see if he is a man of his word, and rushes in to save the day.

We laugh over the fact that his physical condition would prevent him from doing something like this but that isn't really the point. Even 20 years ago when Trump was slimmer and in better condition he would never have done this. No one that self-centered would ever take that kind of risk to save other people.

Exactly this.

All we have to do is look at real life situations to get a sense of how people react.

Look at some of these mass atrocities and see how many people become paralyzed with fear.

From an event I've discussed before, i had a friend executed during a mass shooting. One by one the victims were lined up and shot in the back of the head.

Why did they not fight back? They could see what was coming. Why did they not attack the killer when they saw the others being killed and themselves in line? Why not run for it? My friend was athletic and able, but it did him no good.

Fear, panic and hope/delusion there is some other way out. Terrified beings become compliant.

It's fanciful to think we'd do something different, but there are plenty of real examples to prove it doesnt work that way.

It's dangerous when the person making policy is so ungrounded from how things actually work.
That's how you get such stupid ideas like having teachers carry guns as a real solution.

It's honestly retarded and just ignores reality. If trained but inexperienced british soldiers lose focus the first time they come under enemy fire. To the point they need a senior noncom to manage them and keep them focused. Then what the fuck is a teacher with his minimal NRA training going to do when he comes under fire from an assault rifle? It's so stupid it hurts but whatever I don't have the misfortune of living in the US. MAGA!

I would see the most likely outcome being the armed teacher being barricaded with their students in a room. For everyone else tough shit.

And what about students and others getting caught in the crossfire? Tactical firearms teams carefully select their members and then train, train, train to deal with these types of situations.* I did a week of NRA training now I am joining the SASR!

*Of course they also have all of the equipment, like body armour, stun grenades, specialised CQB training etc.

OK. I have the solution. As part of a teachers training they must spend four years in either the marines or army. (not one of those pussy branches like the navy) They must have a mandatory deployment to either afghanistan or syria where they are dropped behind enemy lines armed only with a butter knife. Those that make it back to base are allowed to finalise their training and are deployed to schools.

All students will also be issued with ballistic vests as part of their school uniform.

Mr. Bone Spurs is going to run in there, sure. Man is making a bigger mockery of this tragedy. If he was in the school when it occurred, he would have thrown on a backpack and pretend to be a student then push others out of the way to get outside first. He would put on a dress to escape the Titantic. The Bigly coward needs to waste millions to have a military parade to make him feel tough. Every day, he builds a bigger case to be thrown into an asylum.

He faked bone spurs to avoid the Vietnam draft, but in his old age he's become an (internet) tough guy!

""I really believe I'd run in there even if I didn't have a weapon," Trump told a gathering of governors at the White House."

Or as Tenacious D put it:

With karate I'll kick your ass
Here to Tienanmen Square
Oh yeah motherf***er
I'm gonna kick your f***ing derriere
Yeah, yeah
I don't think he said with Karate, and I bet there are a lot of people that would have gone in there as well, just maybe not the cowards that want only criminals to carry guns.

Just IGNORE Donald Trump and everything he says.
Once again, the con-artist in charge is simply ATTEMPTING to change the subject.
To deflect away from the 17 dead school shooting victims.
And deflect away from the students commitment against NRA ownership of our political system.
A Trump stunt sooooooo very Donald Trump-ish....

What we all need to learn including the media must learn, to just ignore these ridiculous TRUMP comments and tweets.
And STAY FOCUSED on the issue at hand.
I.e. Banning assault weapons, raising the purchase age for all guns in general, advanced background checks, and forgetting about this nonsense demanding teachers to be armed.
THAT is what we must remain focused on, not the idiotic hourly brain farts from our national imbecile.
They "may" have been funny during the election 2016 cycle, but not funny anymore.
And neither is Dumpus Trumpus.
