Didn't see this posted yet. Trump is alienating us from the rest of the world, on purpose, by design. I can't fathom why that is although he seems intent on severely damaging our relations with other nations who used to look up to us as a model to build upon.

Not surprised yet still shaking my head over why he's doing this at one of the worst times in our recent history.

If Putin wants it, trump makes it happen. All trump ever wanted was a strong father figure in his life and Putin (although younger than trump), is that strong man father trump never got as a boy.

They can up China's membership fee's to cover the 400 million the US won't be paying.

The good news is that this doesn't actually happen until next year so this, like with so much else, can be canceled day one by Biden.

Assuming Biden wins it's going to be funny to watch MAGA heads explode as Biden mass-cancels basically everything Trump has done since almost all of it was through executive orders.

The irony of them complaining about Obama's executive orders is going to be so delicious.

Or, and maybe its a crazy thought, but hear me out. If the US wants to have influence and be considered a super power we should actually continue to be a part of the world's institutions and engage with the world community.

It's kind of amazing how the US just surrendered to China and Russia across the entire globe. We weren't defeated by them, Trump just gave up and waved the white flag.

A better headline: Trump gambles that he'll get a second term to complete a WHO withdrawal.

Biden has already stated that he'll undo this if he wins... so if all goes well and Trump is voted out, this is nothing more than a hollow gesture.

Clearly few people really appreciate the mechanisms by which the US attained and maintained extraordinary wealth, power, and influence globally since the end of WWII. It wasn't by yelling "MAGA" then flipping the table over and going home. We are now in voluntary decline while the morons shout about how strong we are for just giving all this up.

When autocratic leaders make mistakes that lead to deaths of the people they govern, they don't look to learn from those mistakes so they can govern better, they instead look to blame and punish the people and organizations that brought those mistakes to light.

“Oh yeah?? Well SCREW your ‘New World Order’ [that, incidentally, America helped create and maintain]... we don’t need it! Belt and Road is the future, man! MAGA for the Middle Kingdom man!”

Well, Trump actually had the "strong father" but that father never gave him love or even much approval. The theory is that Trump is chasing that over and over again by appeasing strong men dictators. He craves their praise and flattery more than anyone else because he never got it from his strong man dad.

Trump is blaming COVID on WHO (on the theory that China covered it up and it was a leak from a biowarfare lab) and that WHO went along with the coverup. In Trump world the dismal failure in the USA was due to WHO, not The Donald. This is purely a spiteful rage move, nothing to do with his Russian master.

Yeah, pretty much. If we're lucky, however, this will only last another 5 months. I can't imagine that Biden wouldn't put us back into the WHO, for starters.

Then again, if voters really want the US to be a second rate power in the long term, then they can just go ahead and vote for Trump.

Kind of funny how every other industrialized nation that followed WHO guidance (and used their test methodology) has done a far better job of managing the outbreak than the US. But I imagine conservatives will stick their heads in the sand and refuse to see anything contrary to their world view, as always.

This is not really that complex. There is no conspiracy or ulterior motive here, Trump is not playing some long game or working towards a goal. WHO disagrees with Trump, therefore Trump is going to take his ball and go home. It is his one and only trick in his bag of the 'Art of the Deal'.
