Trump white boys should be pleased. You can commit crime because the Tangerine Turd has your back. Assault/battery on your GF is acceptable.

I was under the impression that when a fellow beats up his girlfriend/mistress/wife she calls the police and he's arrested at that time. Why would they need a warrant?

But the issue isn't so much as "the process seems strange", but the fucking US attorney is being a corrupt, partisan hack and preventing the arrest of someone because he happens to be a congressman (R).

The process as outlined is more than strange, it's absurd. There is a big chunk of that story missing.

Something missing is he should have been arrested. Corruption right in front of your face.

Just like the pardoning of the J6 cop beaters/insurrectionists. If you are white and have Trump's back crime is cool.

What further investigation? Woman identifies the guy who beat her, and they have his address. Anyone else would be detained for questioning. That IS the further investigation. They are giving this guy time to surround himself with Trump affiliated lawyers and get the right wing media on his side. I hope the woman get strong legal help and goes on offense against this creep. Unfortunately, she knows the crazy MAGAts will come after her and make her life hell.

Right wing media propaganda is pathetic. Subtle brainwashing at its best.

Here is the New York Post headline which is owned by Murdoch.

GOP lawmaker probed over ‘emotionally charged’ spat with Iranian-American activist

Here is the paragraph buried in the article.
A separate police report, described by NBC Washington, states that Raviani told police that “[h]er significant other for over a year” had “grabbed her, shoved her, and pushed her out of the door” and that there were “bruises on her arm which appeared fresh.” That report also says Raviani let cops listen to a recorded phone call in which Mills “instruct[ed] her to lie about the origin of her bruises” and that Mills (R-Fla.) had himself “admitted [to officers] that the situation escalated from verbal to physical.”

Ask yourself, does the headline match what is buried in the article? What is the relevance of the victim being Iranian? Blatant attempt to demonize her before the story goes wider. Headline makes it appear it was just a simple verbal argument but that is not what she is claiming.

In the police have a recording of her phone call where she discussed the incident with Mills. The altercation was physical and he told her to lie. She then changed her story when Mills told her he would be arrested.

Something really stinks. IMO He forced her to recant because it looks bad to have yet abother white male Republican beating up his wife/gf.

Stay tuned.

It could be corruption, but with only a part of the story there is no way to know.

Nope, still the same story. Why do you embarrass yourself twisting up in knots to defend these gross people?
You should have read the entire story. Did you miss the part where there are 3 different police reports? Or the part where the victim recanted her first story? That's why there was no arrest at the scene.

I did read the entire story and I didn’t miss anything. I’m not concerned with why there was no arrest at the scene (it is common for victims of abuse to recant due to fear of backlash and publicity after all) and more with why GOP congressmen are beating women and instructing them to lie about it.

These are your people, just say you’re okay with it and move on rather than inventing these pathetic alternate realities.

You should have read the entire story.

From your own link:

The first report goes on to note that during a phone call between the significant other and alleged victim, she “let officers hear Subject 1 [now identified by MPD as Mills] instruct her to lie about the origin of her bruises … Eventually, Subject 1 made contact with police and admitted that the situation escalated from verbal to physical, but it was severe enough to create bruising.”

When the police see evidence of abuse and then overhear the abuser instructing the victim to lie about what happened they will sure as shit arrest someone. This is corruption, plain and simple.

@Greenman has always sounded like a guy that would probably beat his wife . Of course he is defending a man beating a woman, to me it fits his personality perfectly. All he really is is white trash and we've known that forever

There's lots of reasons why a victim of abuse may recant their story, especially if their abuser is powerful. The responding officers noted fresh bruises, and a third party confirmed physical assault.

He should have been arrested. Do not pass go, do not collect $200.

Did you read the part in my post that says in the original police report she played a recording to police where Mills...

told her to lie
admitted to physical attack.
