No idea -

Just talking based on what I'm seeing reported on PBS news

So it's just good to hear that we're handing out 'free' govt money to corporations, about what it would take to forgive every single student loan, as long as they don't do stock buybacks or give themselves executives bonuses, even though you admit that likely couldn't be prevented?

What's your love of capitalism now, comrade?

Based on my understanding listed in the reporting - they would be loans.... Not just free money for the corporations.

Also I've said this a million times - these industries are. NOT. capitalism.

An oligopoly of airlines that must fly out of federally owned airports with limited ports, limited takeoffs, etc... IS. NOT. CAPITALISM. Do you comprende?

These are the equivalency of public utilities - and they should be kept in check. That isn't DUR socialism either. It's proper managing of markets - which the government failed to do by allowing RIDICULOUS mergers in the first place.

New bill from senate- President Trump says he doesn't want to see Executive Bonus' or stock buybacks from any industries that require a bailout. Good to hear.

I can't believe I'm going to say this. I agree with Trump!

With that said, still 0% chance he'll ever get my vote.

It would be hilarious (and just another sign that these are the End Times) if Trump can successfully outflank Biden's progressive cred from the left before the general campaign really gets underway. Of course there will be some Bernie voters who fall for it too, because unfortunately some of them are suckers just like the Trumpists.

Was just going to say that. Does he not want it enough to put it in the legislation? I would be pleasantly surprised, but won't hold my breath.

I fully embrace it to any company and/or industry that has to be bailed out. Do I think it should apply across the board to any and all company? Not necessarily.

Anyone that required a bailout from the common taxpayer? Yeap.

I also stand behind making a bill of rights for Airlines and other travel industries to define things like seat width/length, max fee charges, etc...

We can be smug about this or call this socialism, but this people not working thing is definitely NOT GOOD. For anyone!!!
Not everyone has a trust fund or a parent with a 10 bedroom house.
Not every single mom has the option to move back in with the parents, or to hit them up for cold hard cash.
EVERYTHING IS CLOSED.
And that results in a hell of a lot of the unemployed.
ACTUALLY.... I very much doubt people have a hint of a clue on exactly how many people this truly involves.
Veterinarians are temporally closed, Menards just cut their hours to the bone and that amounts to fewer hours for employees. Banks are limiting their hours and banning lobby access, so everything must be done either online or thru the drive-up teller.
And, with restaurants reverting to TAKE-OUT ONLY, that is not going to keep those establishments from going bankrupt.
Donald Trump can not bail EVERYONE out in America nor bailout every establishment.

Someone said that America will in fact experience what amounts to a GREAT DEPRESSION. Huge numbers of unemployed, huge numbers of cut hours, business inoperative, America shut down.
I really doubt a few checks directly to Americans or bailouts to business will make any difference long term. Trump would need to do this on a monthly basis if the unemployed are to survive.
And one thing I keep harping on, we really haven't reached the MASS PANIC PHASE... yet. Just wait until weeks pass and those unemployed Americans have no choice but to resort to crime, resort to looting and resort to violence just to feed their families.

AMERICA.... IF YOU DO NOT SEE THE FEAR IN THEIR FACE, YOU ARE NOT LOOKING INTO THEIR FACE.

No wonder Donald Trump is so hoping and so hopeful that a vaccine will mysteriously come about. If we get no vaccine nor effective treatment then I doubt even Donald Trump will want to hang around. Trump has a personal jett, and bunches of money, and homes all over the world. The buck not only does not stop with this president, when the going gets tough this president may just leave town.

If you're making $80K and don't have a year's expenses in reserve, you're an ass.

... You... uhh... you do realize... $80k is practically poverty in places like NYC, SF, LA, Boston, etc... Right? Okay, maybe not poverty, but definitely BARELY skimming by.

Nevermind, you obviously have zero clue.

I thought the republicans were only about the rich ? ;)

But yeah, same boat... based on the proposal, I won't get anything.
Working rich is rough. #SortaRichButNotColloquiallyRich

Make plenty of money to be more than just comfortable, but don't qualify for really any breaks and can't use all the corporate loop holes to stash money.

Don't get me wrong, life is still very good, but you're (not you s1, general you) welcome for paying all the taxes. :)

401k (19k), Roth IRA (6k), and HSA (3.5k) - multiple all of them by 2 if married is the best we can do. Just make sure you do it ;)

My wife and I also both have 457s (so another 38k combined) but we don't have access to HSAs. We max it all every year. I put a little more in a taxable brokerage account and then some in cash savings, of course. Our retirement savings are quite sizable for our age, which will be wonderful at retirement age, just doesn't leave a whole lot "disposable." but understandably our savings percentage is pretty large.

Same here. Our jobs should be secure for the time being though so I’m not going to complain. Especially with only 15 states reporting 600k+ people unemployed this week

I barely have a month's pay in cash. I used to keep six months in cash but then I realized I could make more investing most of it.
