Crimea is a land grab against Europe. Russia's hostile actions violate the peace between it and NATO. Response necessitates that we prepare for a quick and decisive military response if Russia takes another piece of European soil. It should have been done this time, but our guard was down. And if we're going to have to bother with a military buildup then part of our response should be to freeze Russia out of the bloc.

Between Crimea and election activities, the time of normal relations has passed. A cold war has returned.
True peace with Russia will need to wait for another generation.

has anyone mentioned that Russia is the world's 11th largest economy.

China is second, India is sixth, Brazil is eighth, and Russia is eleventh.

Why does trump skip the first three and go straight to Russia?

is it because they are white or because Putin owns trump?

What needs to happen now though is for Trump's followers to be taken to the wood shed, given a nice long talk about putting our nation ahead of Trump and his Russian oligarch financiers that owns his ass, given a nice spanking for the damage they've already caused the nation and then have them sit on their hands on high chairs as they watch Trump get summarily dragged out of office on his ass along with his two sons while their ladies are politely shown out the door.

All this while the nation's people who still have their wits and senses about them take back control of the gov't from the lunatics and corporatists who are enabling the donor class to drive the nation down into the dirt in order to own it and wring it dry.

As for the dingle berries that believe in small government, well that's exactly what the donor class wants because the smaller the gov't is the easier it is for them to control it and own it. Their version of small gov't is to have all of the protections that the gov't is supposed to provide the working class and the poor stripped away so they can run amok over the nation and rob it blind all nice and legal.

They're doing it right at this very minute and it's Trump's supporters that are ironically allowing it to happen and to have it happen to themselves worst of all.

I’m *pretty confident* California has a bigger economy than Russia.

The G7 is for the worlds largest advanced economies. Russia doesn’t even fall into that category according to the IMF. Nor does China or Brazil.

Trump and others seem to think the G7 is about something else.

I'm thinking as far as Trump is concerned, it's all about the prestige and glow he can get by being the top gun in the room when he enters it. Too bad his job title doesn't help him get over the stigma his personality and low intellect creates for himself.

So funny that he blames the media for disseminating fake news about him when in fact he's handing it to them on a 99.999 proof silver platter on a daily basis. The dipshit can't see that he's doing all the damage to himself all on his own.

As a Canadian I'm actually educated. Not sure how that is relevant in discussing a country's sovereignty though but if it makes you feel like you're arguing from some superior position have at it.. What gave Russia the right to seize the land militarily from a sovereign country? Why should a sovereign country tolerate that type of action?

Please invade us with your tank! OK more seriously, I trust your government more than mine. My daughter has spoken about moving to Canada (she's an educator) but getting in to stay is not something easily done or with effort for that matter. New Zealand? Forget it.
