Trump vows to censor the media of any news that is critical of him.

While I don't agree with censoring or controlling news outlets, I honestly do have some concerns about the amount of power wielded by google in terms of information. However, instead of trying to censor google, instead I think I'd support a government sponsored search engine (think the equivalent of PBS) that is completely open about their search algorithms. Just don't start it under the current administration or else it would be weaponized instead.

It's weird how stories about the millions of negative things he does outweighs stories about the few good things (?) he does. Obviously this is the fault of failing fake New York Times/CNN/Google etc. and the government should heavily regulate what they're allowed to say about God-King Trump.

Definitely something a not-at-all wannabe tyrant would say.

Nothing I hear about this administration surprises me anymore.

A better solution IMO would be for Google and Facebook to have some competition.
Gotta wonder why our Republican President didn't propose such an obviously 'conservative' solution like that..

In theory, they have competition through Bing, Yahoo, etc. I would just prefer a competing alternative that isn't monetarily driven.

For those who don't want to click through to Twitter, here are the relevant tweets.

Google search results for “Trump News” shows only the viewing/reporting of Fake News Media. In other words, they have it RIGGED, for me & others, so that almost all stories & news is BAD. Fake CNN is prominent. Republican/Conservative & Fair Media is shut out. Illegal? 96% of results on “Trump News” are from National Left-Wing Media, very dangerous. Google & others are suppressing voices of Conservatives and hiding information and news that is good. They are controlling what we can & cannot see. This is a very serious situation-will be addressed!

So any bets on whether (a) he has no idea how search algorithms work, or (b) he's intentionally ignoring how search algorithms work in order to rile up his brain-dead base?

Also, the "Illegal?" is a great reminder that not all statements that end with a question mark are questions.

The answer is c) He followed a story written by a conservative opinion writer which was then pushed by Drudge that started from the premise that all major news outlets are the left. As such all results are, naturally, the left since they are the major driver of news media and link referrals.

A quick Google search of the word "idiot" or "moron" and clicking images brings up interesting results lol

I think the internet is easy proof that markets love monopolies. And why you need governments to regulate them. In theory, the internet should lower barriers to entry and allow more competition, but that isn't what actually happens.

That said, I stopped using Google search about six months ago when amp first came out. I actually prefer the results from duckduckgo for true web search.

Lol you're right! Maybe someone should send a message to Webster's dictionary so they can update their definition.

Dump's spirochetes at it again I guess.

College students protest or shout down conservative speakers! What happened to freedom of speech?!

and now...

Google is biased against me, they need to be censored!

This conspiring dipshit has the mental acuity of a fruit fly. About as useful too.

Seriously, if you have basically no friends, you act the way you do, you treat people the way you do, your university failed, your steaks and vodka went out of business, you have multiple bankruptcies on record, scams, cons, infidelity, shady business deals, compulsive lying,..the list goes on and on...

What good news do you expect to find about yourself if this is your social resumé? Just have someone explain to him that he's an asshole, so there isn't any good news. And... it's not fake either.

Someone should also explain to him how google works.Tell him to type in Casey Anthony. He'll find there's no good articles about her because she's a horrible person. So when you type Donald Trump....
