I'm not sure how I am shitting on small-town white folk. I am from a small town that is lily-white and I chose to move back to that same small town after I dropped dead of a heart attack at 36. My town has just over 4000 people living in it, which is tiny since we are a suburb of the state capital that has over 40,000 people. I know I despise the human race and all due to being a sociopath but damn I'd rather see that they are well-taken care until I decide to kill our species off.

Yea, but you're ruining their preconceived notions of what a liberal minded individual thinks.

Btw, I live in the sticks, bigger town than you, but still 30% GOP voters in a solid blue state. It's kinda funny sitting thru town meetings 'round these parts

Read the post right above your's and tell me again how wrong I am.
We have sensamp up there talking about how eliete you fellows are and how stupid people in small towns are. It's mind boggling that none of you see that you're just as narrow minded as those ignorant small town people you so despise. Of all the places I haunt on the web this one is by a wide margin the most bigoted.
?? He even put "educated liberal elites" in quotes, that should have been a clue that he wasn't calling city dwellers smarter.

Almost no on here (I'm sure there are some) think city dwellers are generally smarter than people living in rural areas. I certainly don't think so. It's just being pointed out that lots of rural people vote Repub, who don't really do anything to truly help these people. They keep voting for them because of wedge issues unfortunately instead of overall policy.

The general perception is that GOP voters are against any sort of socialism...so it's ironic that this town is doing "socialistic" things. They're being constantly hammered (by Fox, GOP, right wing) that socialism = Venezuela which couldn't be further than the truth. Funnily enough when policies like medicare for all are presented to them (in a general sense, not by Dems specifically) the majority of Americans are in favour, but of course these are "socialist" so are deemed heresy by the some media, GOP politicians, and right wing talking heads.

Must be exhausting living around people who don’t think like you. Maybe you should try not bringing your buckets to the meetings?

That's because you live in the bizarro world part of MA. NH is an odd state we refuse to institute a sales tax which would help lower the fees for licensing and property taxes even thou our largest industry is tourism.

The exhausting part is watching their war on education while championing ignorance. You should stop by, you'd fit right in. All those libtard intellectual cucks need attacking.

So the money you make from hated corporations makes you better than the stupid poor people that inhabit small towns. I can see that.
Their being poor is a function of their stupidity, and orthogonal to my success. If you keep voting for trickle down, enjoy the scraps you get.

We have one of you in my town. Everyone usually laughs at him. He also drives a Rav4.

Good for you. Shaming others is certainly right up conservatives alley, it's their go to move. You get exhausted from it, it's not easy to continually project your own failures on others. But hey, keep up the good fight, let us know how your social food program works out.

Worked out pretty well. My grandparents and parents used food pantries. There was no shame in it. It also wasn’t a tribal political issue. Stick with the condescending strategy. Worked so well in the last election.

Our hospitals aren't closing and our grocery stores aren't being replaced with government pantries. We are paid mostly in stock, so corporate tax cuts went into our pockets. Meanwhile, small non-college towns can continue depopulating in their downward spiral, voting to self destruct while blaming liberals. It's their problem now.

You sound like an 80s era Republican talking about the inner cities. Check your privilege.

Because rural America is the modern equivalent of 1980s inner cities. That's what 40 years of voting for trickle down gets you. Maybe they should have checked themselves before they wrecked themselves :)

Not every rural area is in a Republican controlled state. The Inland Empire, Bakersfield and eastern Washington are not that different from Alabama. Rural areas across the country got left behind by rapid globalization and the shift to a service and knowledge base economy. This same problem manifests itself in different ways in urban centers, which is why most American cities are facing large homeless crises.

Not everyone has the luxury to just pick up and move. For rural areas, this means deterioration. For urban areas, homelessness.

You mean areas that gave us Devin Nunes and Kevin McCarthy are also shitty? Could have knocked me over with a feather.

But the inner city neighborhoods suffering the same socio economic problems if they’re not getting gentrified out of existence by people like you...that’s fine and dandy

What policies do you think would solve this issue?
