I'm sure a lot of news outlets will be talking about this shortly; looks like there was a directive from the Trump White House to ease up on financial sanctions against members of the Russian FSB (that is the renamed KGB).

Document: https://www.treasury.gov/resource-center/sanctions/Programs/Documents/cyber_gl1.pdf

America very badly needs its Congress to push to establish an independent commission to look into how and whom Russia has been in contact with before, during and after the election. This entirely unilateral move by the Trump White House should worry absolutely everyone.

35% of our population is deep in the propaganda machine of the alt right. They wont worry about anything.

Seriously, what possible legitimate rationale could exist for this? It increasingly looks as though Trump is in the tank for Russia, for God knows what reason (the Steele report suggests some). Meanwhile, he can't conduct a civil phone call with the PM of Australia. Great governance, Mr. President!

McCain is gonna be a touch upset.

Wonder if he'll torpedo a cabinet nominee in revenge.

Of course he did.

If you look at Trump's actions, I can't imagine Putin being any happier.

Interesting lack of defenders to the crown in this thread.
They haven't been told what to think yet. It's coming. I will bet it's in the form of "this is a routine tweaking to prevent unintended consequences" any minute now.

The unintended consequence being negatively impacting the Russian intelligence service.

Well Trump did the one thing he explicitly said not to do. If not now then never.

This taken along with reports of shouting down one of our closest allies really does seem to put things into (a scary) perspective. It's some combination of intent or rank incompetence. Your choice, but neither is good.

Starting to think that even the die-hard Trump apologists are suspecting that something's wrong. There's just no good reason to ease sanctions on FSB members, and it looks extra-suspicious when you're doing it less than a month into your term.
