So Trump has signaled his intention to pardon ol' Scooter. Bush commuted his sentence but refused to pardon him. Cheney and Bush had some public contempt for one another over that decision.

Some are viewing this as a signal from Trump of his willingness to forgive those who may stand in the way of Mueller. As you may recall, Libby was charged with obstruction of justice for lying to investigators in the Valerie Plame affair.

I have no shocks or outrage left to give. Trump has succeeded in making nothing shocking anymore. The FBI director is on TV talking about the president being peed on... no shocks left.
 
He's just telling all his allies "lie to the FBI, perjure yourself, I don't care. Protect me and I'll pardon you.

Dude's not in prison, he now has his law license back and he had his voting rights restored by the governor of Virginia. This is nothing but a message.
 
Joe Wilson (ex-ambassador and husband of outed spy Valerie Plame) is on the phone with MSNBC saying Libby was essentially the fall guy for John Bolton--Bolton was actively leaking his wife's identity.

This pardon sends a signal to Mueller and interviewees, but is also a personal favor to Bolton.

How this guy becomes NSA director after leaking a CIA spy's identity is beyond me.

Edit: I guess this is not news...Bolton had been suspected of orchestrating the Plame leak to undermine Wilson and his claims of faulty Iraq WMD Intel from the get-go.

so Libby gets back the $ ($500k?) he paid for the fine as part of his conviction??
 
Trump is a liar. He likes liars...why should liars be in jail? They are his people...they reflect his belief that the truth is for the stupid and the weak. Except for Hillary...lock her up...

Totally believable for anyone who has paid attention to Republican politics for the past 50 years. Nixon. A whole slew of Reagan criminals. Bush II criminals. You get the picture.

This is just a signal flare to Strongman Trump's own swamp-drained criminals that they too can get pardons.

Comey appointed Fitzgerald who convicted Libby which is now being painted as a witch hunt by the GOP. Oh, and Mueller was head of the FBI.
