Trump tells police chiefs to bring back stop and frisk policies (aka, harass minorities more)

Stop and Frisk was deemed unconstitutional and NYC ended it. Contrary to what Trump claims, ending S&F didn't increase crime, it stayed the same in NYC. Weird how Trump cries about how a single white dude was being 'unfairly' targeted with claims of rape when he wants black and brown people to be targeted when there's no lawful basis for even stopping and frisking them. At least there was probably cause against Kavanaugh to question him. Trump wants black and brown people to be questioned solely on the basis of race.

He obviously assumes (correctly) that his new yes-man on the court will be totally cool with it.
Doesn’t need him. Terry v. Ohio is already on the books. Floyd v. New York challenge at the state level required a written policy about its use but sadly it’s legal for now.

Would be great if stop and frisk were back in time for the election, so police could be sure to do that for anyone entering their polling place (in select neighborhoods.)

Stop & frisk resulted in a lot more marijuana busts than anything else. In the context Trump is using, the reference is clearly towards weapons so this has to be confusing to his ammosexual concealed carry fans. It's basically racist dog whistling so I'm sure he'll get over with it, anyway. I mean, contradiction? What contradiction?

-Wait, how the hell hell can stop and frisk be legal? Isn't that a more less blatant violation of the 4th amendment?

LOL oh yeah wait the 4th amendment, like anyone gives a crap about that anymore. Frisk away...

Innocent until proven guilty, unless your skin color means you're automatically guilty. 'Murica.

Make stop and frisk only legal for white people. See how long it lasts.

Actually that makes sense. Even though non-whites were, by far, the majority of people stopped in NYC, whites were, by far, the majority being found carrying an illegal weapon.

Since the profile of the person likely to commit financial crimes like the ones that caused the '07 meltdown is a white male, why not stop and frisk every one coming in and out of the Wall Street banks and investment firms.

See how long that lasts.

Hmmm, didn't realize that was still legal. That's messed up. Thanks for learning me something :)

The NYPD was abusive of Terry v Ohio. In Terry, the officer observed clearly suspicious behavior & patted down the suspects' outer clothing to find concealed weapons. The NYPD stopped people just walking down the street & demanded that they empty their pockets for inspection.

So Trump pardoning Arpaio wasn't something he just wanted to piss off the mamby pamby liberals about unless this is another pointy stick he can jab the MS-13 loving liberals with thus making himself and his base happy happy. It seems he really does want a police state in order to appease his racist inner self. His desiring for his very own version of the Berlin Wall is just more evidence of his simplistic wayward way of seeing things.

I feel so sorry for our nation that Trump's cult members have had to go down the rabbit hole with him in order to claim his and their legitimacy and competency via their voting for this caricature of a man.

I'm of two minds on this, as the overwhelming majority of the Chicago homicide victims are late teens to early 30s black men. If there's a way to reduce the homicide rate there, they would benefit the most. But, I also realize that the aggressive enforcement would end most likely up in predominantly black neighborhoods and possibly infringe the rights of plenty innocent folks going about their business. ( I say possibly as given a reasonable suspicion of criminal activity like Terry is one thing, loose reasons and/or random frisks like NYPD got smacked over are two entirely different animals)

It's a balance of the rights of people to be free of harassment in their travels, and the freedom of others to be safe from crime.

Honestly though, Baltimore needs it more than Chicago. The total numbers might be worse in Chicago, but the murder rate in Bmore is worse considering population. And visiting it from time to time, and having friends that live down there, it's out of control.
