Same rules apply. Highways, bridges and roadways are not appropriate locations for protests, as they create a public safety hazard. The Trump caravans are reckless and irresponsible, what they did to the Biden/Harris bus is criminal and the culprits should face federal charges.

Not to say circumstances are always the same, but where do you think MLK made an important protest in Selma?

But why were you a Republican in the first place? What was the appeal and looking back, how did they do in those issues (Iraq aside)?
I was very angry in my youth. My attitude was fuck the world. I think I have learned from my mistakes and hope that some can forgive me.
I understand that most won't.
I was a racist against black people because I went to an elementary school that was 75% black and got into fights every day because I was white. Now I understand the hatred of some about my skin color. I deserved all the abuse I got because of my attitude.
Again I apologize to all.

It's all good dude.

I do remember protesting in the streets of NYC against the Iraq war and the Republican convention there. You were just a few years behind schedule.

Welcome aboard.

Fair point, although I think there is a distinction between how MLK approached nonviolent protest, as opposed to Trumpers playing Mad Max in Texas or a group of young people having a dance party on a freeway. MLK in the marches he led never posed a risk to others, the only people at risk were the marchers themselves.

It takes a big man to admit when you were wrong and it takes a bigger man to actually change. Kudos.

If I may though...if you had a "fuck the world" attitude, why were you a Republican? Like how did they fit into your world view?

I think involving anything that has a potential to hurt people while you protest is the difference, be it guns, bats, or cars traveling at a speed above walking, is the issue.

Protesting, no matter where its done is ok if its done in a safe matter, even if it inconveniences people, in fact I'd say the more inconvenient the more impactful the protest. Protests of that nature aren't done to change minds but rather to bring an issue to light, kind of like no press is bad press.

A friend, and good friend with my daughter is a deputy sheriff. I won't go into details but they are on high alert starting tomorrow, with all hands on deck, and with their own emergency operations center set up, in addition to the normal countywide EOC. Called to make sure daughter had plenty of ammo, or he was going to bring her some.

She is stocked up, food and ammo and works from home, grandson does have to work tomorrow as a firefighter, but in his department (not city) most everyone is typically armed anyway.

The shit storm is just over 12 hours away
I'm pretty sure the pending civil war is going to fizzle pretty quick. There are going to be handful of crazy, fucked up incidents tomorrow, but there won't be a mass break down American society.

One would hope so, but we have a president that wants society, and the rule of law, to break down so he can retain power.

A sampler: Trump fucktards in Texas try to force a Biden bus off the road: The FBI is investigating, but fucking Trump is saying "They did nothing wrong".

Tomorrow night isn't what has me worried, it's the next few days after that as trump ramps up his rhetoric.

Here's hoping the yellow streak down their backs makes them tuck tail instead truly go crazy and riot when their orange leader loses.

This is what I fully expect. For one thing there's a tradition of respecting election results in America. It's only now that people are expressing a lack of confidence. I think it mostly has to do with Trump's actions and rhetoric. He has renounced acknowledging that he's willing to accept defeat, he keeps saying that the Democratic Party is rigging the election (with zero evidence, and everyone acknowledges that) and he keeps threatening to try to deny lawful post election day vote processing, also eggs people on to disrupt peaceful orderly voting processes.

I was angry that I loved my neighbors that were black because my mom told me they were like chocolate milk and I was like white milk.. My black friends abandoned me. Now I understand at 54. I wish I had my best friends back. My best friends now are 54 years old and black. They have always stood by me even though I was a white bread and they were black, They were my true friends. I wish I could have changed the past. :(
My black friends have always stood by me even though I was a douchtard Republican.

That's cool. So many black people are great people. I've met many many. And they are more loyal than white people. Famously, a woman will stand by her black husband when times are tough whereas white women would not. Of course, it's not universal, but the statistics would bear that out.

The question everyone who hasn't voted yet (Bueller, Anyone?) is what kind of person you are. Are you one of these angry Trump people?

Well, the one takeaway for me out of this election, the one major takeaway will be deciphering exactly what kind of America we now live in. This is the number one question that I must have an answer to. When Donald Trump was elected in 2016, I figured that was a fluke with a large number of Americans wanting change and memorized by Trump celebrity. As if America said WOULDN’T IT BE FUN AND FUNNY TO ELECT A CLOWN FROM TV FOR PRESIDENT? And also, this collective assumption among a lot of Americans that anyone, anyone at all could be president because America pretty much runs itself so it really doesn’t matter who or what the president is. So in 2016 Americans made that premeditated decision as in premeditated murder. Or, is the operative word premeditated suicide? Americans tossed America under the bus by electing the clown, by electing Donald Trump.

Then shortly after, America turned nasty and I mean very nasty. Lead by Donald Trump, and with mimicking Donald Trump, Americans turned into monsters. And so, I must know if this is the America of today and the America for the foreseeable future? Something of permanency? Or, the reminisce of the fluke. Some insane American experiment gone amuck. I fully understand how and why Donald Trump won in 2016, what I need to know now is.... has America turned into it’s own worst nightmare? November 3rd will answer that question at least for me, but I must admit I’m not sure I really want to know the answer to that question. Do you want to know?

Good example of how crazy some of them are; however, keep in mind these jackasses utterly failed in their mission to push the bus off the road., and will likely end up in jail.

Although they did seem to impress Florida Man.

Of course, lots depends on Trump and his word and deed post-election. If he loses and thinks he'll get "the best deal possible" from the state AG's that will be going after him by behaving himself in some decent manner, he'll go with it and most of his supporters will follow his lead. OTOH, if he thinks he needs to cause as much chaos as possible in order to win closely contested and decisive races in battleground states that will keep him in office, he'll go for it without hesitation. He won't care how many people get hurt, how many lose their lives in the turmoil because he will acquire a single-mindedness of purpose once he decides to go that route and so will most his supporters. Nothing else will matter to the Repub Party once Trump goes all in on creating the kind of chaos he thinks he needs in order to create the opportunities he can exploit in his favor.

I know. If you are trying to cause a traffic collision, you need to face the consequences.

Watch the video carefully, white Biden SUV is in the lane behind if the bus at the beginning of the video. As it pans left, black pickup beside in right lane. As lady says OMG, the pickup shoves the white SUV out of the way. You're blind. The cops that gave the statement is blind and needs to be fired.

And the only comment from the defenders is to post article in attempt to defend the idiot orange baby train

Good on you for changing.

I was an angry young man too. I don't know of any that weren't (although I've gotten the impression that there are some that escape it for the most part but some of them seem like it just gets delayed). I wasn't racist (although honesty that very well might just have been because at the time there weren't many people to really be racist towards - I grew up in rural Kansas and uh, not a lot of diversity there - hell I was actually an outsider and had one friend claim I looked Mexican after they found out I was originally from New Mexico), but I was disgustingly homophobic (not in a literal gay bashing way, but being a little shit using the 3 letter f word and calling things gay; I've certainly changed since then and I'd go back and kick my own ass if I could), so I certainly have a shitty past as well (although I didn't get into fights and even tried to de escalate situations even back then).

We really need to start talking about the affects of the rush of testosterone from puberty causes and how that makes young men raging assholes (for no reason, which also makes them highly susceptible to being manipulated and indoctrinated). That takes any and all issues and amplifies them (which is why you were treated like you were).

I've never voted Republican, but I'm also 2 decades younger than you (and missed the early stages of the propaganda war they started around the 80s - although arguably they started before then, the 80s is when they found the way to turn their hatred into an economic one which blinded many to its hatred). I also grew up with a general disdain for politics and thought both parties were equally shitty (which honestly was more true in the 80s and 90s). But after studying Economics in college, and seeing the Republicans in Kansas steamroll economists telling them that even the basic math of their financial plans made no sense, among other pretty nutty stuff, it was like "woah, Republicans are full on insane". I tried telling people back then. It was too little too late.

My point being, that sucks. I can relate some. Glad you changed, please help us continue to show people the things we've realized and that they can change. Hopefully we can get more to notice it before worse calamities happen.
