Trump Blames AFL-CIO President for ‘Why Unions Are Doing So Poorly’ on Labor Day

As Labor Day dawned, President Donald Trump fired back at AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka, saying unions were “doing so poorly” because of his leadership as a Democrat.

"Richard Trumka, the head of the AFL-CIO, represented his union poorly on television this weekend. Some of the things he said were so againt the working men and women of our country, and the success of the U.S. itself, that it is easy to see why unions are doing so poorly,” Trump tweeted, misspelling against. “A Dem!"

Trumka on Fox News Sunday had bashed Trump and said he had greatly harmed American workers.

“He hasn’t come up with an infrastructure program that could put a lot of us back to work,” Trumka said. “He overturned a regulation that would deny over 5 million overtime that they would’ve had. He overturned some health and safety regulations that will hurt us on the job.”

As always, he is either playing his pied piper flute to keep his base merrily hopping and skipping along behind him or solemnly yet violently serenading his minions on the violin with his often played "You're the Victims of Deep Sate Conspiracies" Suite.

Looks as if Trump acknowledges the fact that the jig is up on his playing the unions for suckers and have now decided to play the traditional "GOP Despises Unions" card to keep his base from sympathizing with what is now their former unionized brethren that formerly thought throwing in with Trump was a really nifty idea in a heh, MAGA kind of way.

Living in KY and having inlaws in WV, it's amazing how many of these people are in, or were in lifelong, unions and support Trump 100%. They would jump over a cliff if the man told them to. I've never seen so many people vote against their own interests in my life, not to mention the hypocrites thinks it's different for their family member to receive government aid as 'they earned it and deserve it' while others are freeloaders and need to be kicked off the system regardless of circumstances. The Cheeto Piper really brings them in and keeps them there. Never seen anything quite like it.

Although I do really love listening to them complain about things being taken away from time to time without any realization of who's doing it. Well deserved.

On a side note, I'm not sure what good unions are today. They have been neutered starting in the 80's and the global economy has made it hard for the US worker to really do anything as far as bargaining goes. Not saying they should go away, just not sure what their future place is in the US, at least under the current circumstances. While they were responsible for building up the middle class USA over the decades, it's clear that their demise has hurt the US worker over the last 3.5 decades or so. Just look at wages, benefits, pensions, etc. and their demise.

In times past I've never belonged to a union that would openly support the R's but recently there are several mainstream AFL-CIO members who support Trump. It was a Democratic administration that paved the road of protections that all workers in the country currently enjoy as the R's have always sought to tear them down.

Trump campaigned on jobs, on coal, on protecting the workers from the scourge of foreign trade and workers. To promote America first and #MAGA. It was an entire song and dance meant for them. Regardless of how badly he'd screw them over in the end, all they hear are slogans and scapegoats and that tickles their Ego. You have to be able to feel to understand Trump's message and how it reached them.

It is a dark and thirsty ambition borne from the pain of trickle down.

What's amazing about the coal is that out of populations over 7,500,000 combined (WV and KY), the number of coal jobs is around 20,000. I've heard the people from there spout how coal is booming and coal mining jobs are making a big comeback but the evidence shows that coal jobs are still in decline overall. It's amazing that the hypnotist has done such an amazing mind job on these people. But I get what you're saying....people have been beaten down for decades and this man said what they wanted to hear.....and they believe him no matter what.

And in other news, through decades of empirical studies and research scientists have conclusively proven that water is wet.

Seriously, did you really expect anything different from the guy?

A day dedicated to something that's not Me? This can not stand!!

Trump is simply replying to a Sunday "attack" on him.

AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka: Trump Has Hurt American Workers
President Donald Trump has done more to hurt American workers than help them, the leader of the largest federation of unions in the nation declared on Sunday. Union workers will likely support Democratic candidates in November, predicted AFL-CIO president Richard Trumka.

Was Trumka telling the truth? I believe he was. Trump's quarrel with Trumka is like his quarrel with Google.... Too much truth. Not enough alternative facts. That's pretty much Trump's problem with most of the rest of the world. Well, other than Putin.

If they AFL-CIO leadership and their Democrat politician partners supported their members (like they used to in the past) outside of election time instead of bending over to corporate America, Trump would be a footnote in History instead of President.

Democrats sold their souls for Wall Street money while paying lip service to unions, as unions eroded so did the middle class living standard because wages and benefits became a free for all with the lowest bidder mentality in the race to the bottom,

Americans demand $15 dollar burger flipping wages or living wages as our friendly liberals like to call it, medical care like in Europe as well as their generous paid time off, strict labor and safety policies as well as a clean environment,

but then hire illegals to pick your fruits and vegetables, build and clean your houses, and buy products from countries that have few if any of those worker protections and rights Americans take for granted because it is cheaper,

while the 1% including CEO's fatten their pockets at the expense of the country at the same time brainwashing you to believe in a me first, profit only matters, greed is good, cheapest is best mentality everything else is socialism/communism.

Ironic how Communist China have played your capitalist game better than your brilliant CEO's using their own greed against them shipping most of your manufacturing overseas as well as the irreplaceable skills that go with them, while your political leaders continually promise you magical prosperity for votes,

sorry it is game over for America and Trump is just the beginning of the consolation prizes that are coming this way.
