The moment Trump decides that Acosta is making him look bad and there's no way to lie/fake/divert his way into keeping him on board, he's gone.

As an aside, Trump realizes more and more how difficult it is to hire people that are willing to divest themselves of all ethics, morals and self-respect and become a "loyal and trusted serf" who does not EVER question the motives and decrees of the Despot-in-Chief.
He actually talked a good talk, pointed blame to the state. I Just wonder if he Kavanuaghed enough for Trump. (i.e. not enough partisan bitching).

Welp, Acosta is gone in 7 days. Fired not because he let a child molester skate, but because his continued presence is a "bad look" for Trump.

Has there ever been a more scandal plagued and backstabbing ridden admin/cabinet in US history? This is a legitimate question as I find it hard to believe there has been.

The surest way to end up out of that place is to make the boss look bad. You could use a neutron bomb on an orphanage but as long as the coverage wasn't bad it would be fine. Another career on the trash heap due to them being shitty people and getting the chyrons Trump hates.

This is a genuine question - are you aware of any case in the history of the United States other than this one where the feds have agreed not to prosecute other unnamed parties as part of a plea deal? I've never even heard of such a thing.

I agree that without more information there's no legal case to be made against Acosta but yes I think we agree that he should resign or be fired. And yes while his version of events is plausible on its face it seems to be directly contradicted by other parties to the agreement and the fact that he broke the law to keep it hidden from Epstein's victims strongly suggests he knew what he was doing was corrupt.

It happens all the time, although it's not necessarily spelled out in black & white. People cop pleas all the time on the condition that prosecutors leave their families & friends out of it.

I just think any person campaigning against him takes his "I'LL BE THE LAW AND ORDER PRESIDENT!" line from 2016 RNC convention and just runs it in loop and cuts in all of the names and faces of people in his administration that quit in shame and corruption, were arrested, or just fell on a sword for him.

And just end it with "Does this look like law and order?"

How does Trump end up surrounded by so many shady characters? He must have the worst luck or the devil is just out to get him and make him look bad. Please say a prayer for Trump and America. /s

Thinking that it's acceptable to work for the fuck. Normal people would never work for that horrible person.

New "acting" S o Labor has his own troubled past, who'd have thunk that?
https://www.cnbc.com/2019/07/12/aco...ces-scrutiny-for-work-with-jack-abramoff.html
Democratic senators and civil rights groups have expressed concern about Pizzella’s prior work with disgraced Republican lobbyist Jack Abramoff in the late 1990s and early 2000s to hamper worker protections in the Northern Mariana Islands.

When Pizzella worked on Abramoff’s team at Preston Gates Ellis & Rouvelas Meeds, the lobbying firm was pushing to prevent Congress from imposing minimum wage laws on the Northern Mariana Islands. At the time, there were “maximum” wage restrictions on the islands of $3.05 per hour for foreign workers, according to the Center for Investigative Reporting.

“Foreign workers pay up to $7,000 to employers or middlemen for the right to a job in the CNMI. When they finally reach the Commonwealth, they are assigned to tedious, low paying work for long hours with little or no time off. At night they are locked in prison-like barracks,” one government report found.
Trump sure can pick the best people.

He tried to put a nice mirror-like spit shine on Trump's ass cheeks with no shoe polish and no spit. Instead, he used his tongue, lips and eyelashes and gave it his best shot.

Trump sure can pick the best people.

Well, in order for Trump to be the smartest guy in the room he has to hire people that are dumber than he is so that sort'a explains a lot.

And then there's that whole flood of folks who left Trump's administration because they were either so frustrated to see their boss constantly making an ass of himself and then get endlessly teased and ridiculed about it or left because their ideas fell on deaf ears and their deeds went unrewarded, unless of course, the boss hears about them singing praises and tributes to his genius intellect.

Working for an imbecile and watching your career go down the flusher with him is bad enough. When people start making remarks that you must have gotten your job in the Trump admin. because no one else would take it or because the ones that had more talent than yourself wouldn't go anywhere near accepting the job, well, it sure doesn't do much for one's self-respect.

ANyone notice the TYPICAL Trump bigotry here?
Donald Trump: "He's Hispanic".
Hispanic?
So that means he can make deals with the devil to allow perverts a lesser sentence?
WHAT THE HELL does his nationality have to do with the shit this guy pulled?
ONLY DONALD TRUMP would make that connection. Or try to.
So what did Trump think? That he could appoint an highly educated minority to a post and that appointee could then do whatever he or she pleases regardless of law?

OH BOY, PEOPLE....
We have ourselves one hell of a F-king president here.
This has to end. It really must end.

Wow, Acosta didn't last a Scaramucci after this came out, John Lithgow wrote a poem about it: Acosta Agonistes
Alexander Acosta was doing just fine
In his comfortable Cabinet post.
Lucky for him, the Department of Labor
Got far less attention than most.

Dumpty’s first pick for Acosta’s position
Could hardly have been more obtuse:
Andy Puzder, renowned for his cheeseburger porno
And rumors of spousal abuse.

Puzder was dumped in a clumsy debacle
That pummelled the bumbling POTUS.
So Acosta, an amiable U.S. Attorney,
Drew virtually no public notice.

Scaramucci, Reince Priebus, Sean Spicer, and Bannon
Were fired or forced to resign.
Fifty others all shared the same infamous fate,
Yet Acosta was doing just fine.

...

A predator wed to a fawning enabler
Is a fellowship forged by the Devil.
Who would have thought such a partner in crime
Would ascend to the Cabinet level?

We are living, alas, in the Dumptyan Era
Where scandals erupt by the hour.
They stir a recurring and queasy sensation
A virus infecting the health of the nation,
Brought on by a toxic and foul combination
Of money, perversion, and power.

:D
