It's highly relevant, but to partisan hacks it's not the same at all. We shouldn't be involved unless there is threat of nuclear weapons being taken over.

No it isn't and for some reason you are in multiple threads trying to change the subject from what trump has said or done.

This is a topic because it outlines just how ignorant Trump is.

This. All information regarding Trump's alarming incompetence and outright anti-US policy is not simply a relevant topic of discussion, but a matter of grave importance.

The US should not elect another Mussolini. National and international security is at stake. A Donald Trump in the White House is a serious threat to the world and this can never be overstated.

Yeah, no one believes that backpedal for a second. The simplest explanation is that he had no idea Crimea was part of Ukraine. The interview reaction says as much.

...are we still ignoring that Putin has been waging a Civil War within Ukraine still, to this day?

LoL--enough about Crimea--he is still in sovereign Ukraine.

For the smartest guy with the best brains, he sure has to "clarify" his positions and what he meant when he said ______, an awful lot!

In Trump's defense, he's too busy Making American Great Again. Leave all boring policy stuff to other people, like his VP.

It was obvious from that interview that he was clueless. That's fine if the average person on the street is clueless - but this guy is running for President, and he's oblivious to even minor details in major world events over the past couple of years.

Listening to the actual interview when trump is told that Russia is already in Ukraine is priceless. It's like watching a live action of a legendkiller or speedy post, trump couldn't get out, "bbbut Obama" quicker if he tried. Lol

Saying someone won't go into a place they are already in is pretty stupid, no? When confronted with that inconvenient fact he then basically legitimized the Russian invasion and annexation of Crimea.

So just in the last few weeks he's said the US may not abide by its treaty obligations and implied that when Russia invades their neighbors and takes their territory that this is okay with him. He's really doing wonders to ensure future Russian aggression if he wins.

To be fair to Putin, the transfer of Crimea was pretty suspect in the first place (and not reported in the western press): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1954_transfer_of_Crimea

It was high time the soviet boogeyman was resurrected, but who knew it would come from the left? Plus the NATO fauxrage and this new found need to be the worlds bodyguard. Intradesting.

Actually it came from the FBI several months ago but when have you ever been concerned with facts?

Child please. The kremlin is coming! is the rallying cry du jour for the left. I don't expect you personally to acknowledge this because that would require a modicum of intellectual honesty. And I don't associate you with intellectual honesty, or anything resembling intellect.

Just calling someone a child to begin with is bad form, and your making an ass out of yourself even worse after that, more or less.

no, a mere modicum of intellectual honesty would require you to read the source of the issues being discussed, to inform yourself of the information that is known.

an actual display of real intellectual honesty would then require you to consider those facts and engage in the discussion in an honest, thoughtful manner.

Yet you are incapable of both. You blindly make charges without informing yourself, deigning to understand the basis of these accusations, and simply charge off accusing others of the very same plain ignorance that you are so clearly displaying.

Perhaps you could directly discuss the facts of the matter and counter them with your own information, rather than spout off with a cretin's small-brained "child, you are just afraid of fantasies!"

So, please, child, care to engage in this discussion, or do you prefer to sit in your little dirt pile in the corner, making mud pies while adults deal with problems facing the world?

It's not from the left. Other than Trump, Repubs have been totally gung ho about Ukraine. It's about the aggressive geopolitical hegemony of Nato being extended to Ukraine. That's been the goal of the West ever since Ukrainian independence, regardless of the political party at the head of any Nato govt.

Sponsorship of the putsch against Yanukovich blew up in our faces with Putin annexing Crimea. it's been clear he wouldn't stand for it since he invaded Georgia in 2008.

Trump also said we should just let Putin have Crimea, because he's "heard" those people really wanted to join Russia anyway.

Peace thorough appeasement, where have we heard that before?

You especially, have taken the soviet boogeyman baton and usain bolt'd that shit to a podium finish. It's not surprising my comment struck a nerve resulting in a long winded attack on my character. Save it, chief.

Trump is clueless but he is accidentally correct here. Russian isn't nazi germany and it's only natural they want their own sphere of influence. The west can't do anything to depose putin anyway and it's not as if that's desirable anyway.

Obama wrote off Crimea. But yes, apologists, keep acting as though Trump is the one that did. Anyways, would you all like to declare war on Russia and the Crimean population, which is largely of Russian and overwhelmingly determined they wanted to leave Ukraine for Russia? If a state in the US chose to secede, and then chose to become part of a neighboring country, such as Mexico or Canada, should we then go in and kill them all?

Not going into Crimea is the right call. Obama does do something right every once in a while. I just find it amusing that some of you decry Trump effectively taking the same stance as Obama, but denouncing the person that doesn't even have the ability to do anything about it instead of the one that does.

Crimea & the Black Sea bases are strategically important to Russia. They can't be leasing them from a Ukrainian govt that would even entertain becoming part of Nato. Hell, Ukraine had joint exercises w/ Nato scheduled back in 2006 & it was the same faction that ousted Yanukovich. When Ukraine fell into disarray he took Crimea, obviously with the blessing of the 80% Russophone population. He armed & encouraged separatists in the Donbass, as well, likely backing them up with Russian troops.

What Ukraine needs is Peace & decent govt. They'll only get the former by dealing with Putin, not from listening to the sweet nothings the West is whispering in their ear. The only thing we can help them do is bleed.
