Ugh, no! The 3.2mm/yr gain is a measured value. What is going on in Antarctica is a localized phenomenon, which doesn't changed to averaged measured values of sea level rise. WTF, what convoluted thinking o_O Back on ignore I guess. Logical thinking seems to elude you.

His argument is that the SLR measurement is wrong (he linked to a blog post on the page about that). Now he’s cherry picking a NASA study that showed a declining year over year increase in eastern Antarctica ice accumulations to backup his claim that SLR isn’t happening or isn’t as bad as reported. This is even though Greenland and other Antarctica ice melt overwhelms the small increase in eastern Antarctica.

So he’s also indirectly suggesting the ice melt in Greenland and elsewhere in Antarctica are also wrong.

It’s the standard spoon fed arguement of deniers that the measured warming is caused by natural causes, not humans and the warming isn’t happening because the measurements are wrong because the scientist (97% of them) are in the pocket of the government and in on the conspiracy.

Necro bump.

Today Trump team apparently announced they are starting the process for formally withdraw from this?

The only thing more silly than formally withdrawing are the hundreds of shithole countries that supposedly entered this "agreement," that haven't done a SINGLE FUCKING THING to commit to this. What a mockery of epic proportions.

If there is no accountability, there will be no actions. Period.

And who would be holding the US accountable and what exactly would that look like?

Its cute when you try to make up things. What is The Paris Climate Treaty is this a right wing fever dream?
Ohhh that's right, it was an agreement made by a single person carefully crafted so it wasn't actually a Treaty that required a ratification vote in the Senate. Not worth the pages it was printed on I guess. Kind of like the Kyoto Protocol.

I’m sorry big bad Obama had to do the responsible thing. He just completely out maneuvered the republicans in Congress. Nothing they could do.

And now it’s going to take a whole other year to finish backing out. Just in time for the next dem president to implement the treaty properly.

Obama was truly playing 4D chess.

Hopefully you aren’t spending to much time ruminating on this.

2015 - At the COP21 sustainable development summit, held in Paris, all UNFCCC participants sign the "Paris Agreement" effectively replacing the Kyoto Protocol. The parties agree to limit warming "well below" 2 degrees, and below 1.5 degrees above pre-industrial levels if feasible.

It's a pledge not a contract. The gains were always going to come first in the developed nations that can afford to change the way we do things without any real economic hardship. This paves the way for development and cost reductions that make new technologies attractive to the developing world.

It's called leadership. You display the behavior you'd like others to emulate.

You know, "be the change" and all that.

I think the problem is Trump does display exactly the behavior they want to emulate.

Trump has empowered millions of Americans to unleash their inner asshole. Ironically a substantial portion also refer to themselves as "Christians".

You uhhh...

You do realize that uhhh...

You can PROMISE things...

Especially elaborate moronic goals like "be climate neutral by 2050" with no basis of measurement or means of keeping stats rolling up to 2050.....

And actually not do a single fucking thing differently right?

You know, like the majority of humans that tell themselves "I will lose weight for the new year" and fail miserably because there is no accountability? Yeah, stuff like that. This is a picture perfect example of virtue signaling worthless crap.

It's a goal. Goals beget plans. It's an agreement that were all in this together. It's a global problem, and were part of it.

You can put what edgy rwnj term you want on it, but that only shows how foolish you are.

so all those goals that EPA and CARB set, they're just meaningless, right?

OH WAIT... (because those climate goals will eventually become reality in the form of environmental regulation)

You can't be serious, right?
