I read that this morning. I'm out of fucks to give. Let him do it.
Chrysler is possibly getting axed this weekend.
Ford is giving up on small size and sedans in the US market.
Tesla is caught up in a pile of issues.
GM has always and continues to be a pile of shit in the sedan and light car market.
Trump is in a trade dispute with Japan.

Hyundai and Kia have to be feeling pretty damn good right now.

One study I saw said that the loss of US jobs versus jobs created would be 3:1 if he implemented a 25% tariff.

He's picked fights with the entire planet on trade. Nobody should be surprised when everybody else bands together to fight back. At this point we deserve to be fucked over for being such assholes.

That's a good hard lesson learned by rational people. But we aren't dealing with rational people. We're dealing with a mongoloid, frothing base of low education voters that continuously vote against their own self interest. Instead of self reflection and understanding that votes have consequences they just point at others and blame them for where they are. Can't fix stupid.

US just announced that steel and aluminum tariffs on EU/Canada/Mexico will go into effect 6/1. Those nations are in the process of announcing retaliatory tariffs against US goods and WTO action.

Trump is thinking midterm elections at this point. Immigration and trade will be his main two themes. Plus a little North Korea for effect.

It won't matter. They will continue to vote to be fucked over and over again, because they will only ever be convinced that the liberals are responsible for their misery. Data doesn't matter, Reality doesn't matter. The GOP has promised them guns and unending defense of cells, and that is all that matters. That whole job and livelihood thing is really just tertiary and because it isn't a moral issue, obviously the liberals are to blame.

If such tribalism is to be abandoned it will only be done in the shadow of some great national calamity like the 1930s. That much I've come to accept.

https://www.cnbc.com/2018/05/31/tru...stop-german-luxury-car-imports-in-the-us.html

Does this idiot not know that these German car companies have a lot of factories in 'Trump Country'?
Most of the German luxury brands build their SUVs in America because that is the primary market.

The ban would be on imports, not production of German cars in America.

If Trump were a smart negotiator he would seize on the populist wave to insist that foreign companies looking to sell their products in America have to onshore jobs in America...especially jobs related to newer automotive technologies like batteries, sensors and AI...and diversify the placement of those jobs to hubs in red America.

He doesn't think like that.

Of course you know he will only do something positive if his "business" can profit from it, right?

Jobs? OK, what kind of incentives towards Trump properties can you offer me before I allow you to create jobs in this country?

3% tariff on German cars coming into the country, 10% tariff on US cars going into Germany. Refuse to renegotiate a trade deal with the worlds largest economy, get threatened with a 25% tariff and watch your stock price plummet.

Pretty sure that requirement would be a massive violation of a number of trade agreements and would result in retaliatory tariffs and WTO sanctions.

If Trump were smart he wouldn’t be starting trade wars to begin with. Unfortunately he seems to have an understanding of economics similar to that of an eighth grader.

So he's punishing companies that ALREADY have plants and jobs in the US? Makes sense.
