Poor little Trumpy the mean PM hurt his tender feelings by calling his idea "absurd".

Nope that is our new reality.
It probably sucks for the Onion to plan and almost finished the parody with Trump announcing that he is going to buy Greenland. I don't think it is possible actually do parodies of Trump since that turn out to be true.

Why in Hell did he believe Denmark would actually sell the Island to the USA in the first place?

Can we give you a pcs of northern BC in exchange for North half of Maine? It will safe many of us hours of driving. Acturally a 1/3 will do.
Why would Trump want to buy BC to begin with? After all that would only increase the number of Liberals in the US.

Why the Hell would we want to buy it if climate change is a Chinese hoax?

I'm thinking in Trump's mind his not going is Denmark's loss and not his. In his mind he's punishing Denmark for their Prime Minister's insulting him with a (as he sees it) snide rebuff.

There's absolutely no need to make stuff up to get Trump riled like the Repubs did on a regular basis with Obama. Trump has proven to be a treasure trove of actual and real examples of incompetence, sheer stupidity and ignorance of what's happening outside of the fictional one he has to live in or without it, cease to be the admired wildly successful celebrity real estate magnate he fantasizes himself to be.

Dear Americans, on behalf of the danish nation, we are truly relieved that Donald has decided not to visit us. Now if you would kindly do your best to elect another president next time you have the opportunity, that would be great. And no, we are not going to let that buffoon ruin the relationship between Denmark an America. (That is if you do not re-elect Donald)

As a Dane I think this is what most of us think about the situation. :)

Far as I am concerned the right of self determination means no one can "sell" Greenland. It belongs to the people living there, and it is up to them and their local form of government to determine their greater political and national affiliations. They'd be far smarter to join Canada or Iceland.

Besides that. What did say that upset Trump aside from being told NO?
Based on DJT history I guess that would be enough. He doesn't seem to respond well to being told 'no'. As we are a small country and close ally with US we would not respond in a way that in normal diplomatic terms could be seen as offensive.

I'm more and more convinced that this whole Greenland thing is just a smokescreen from the Administration to throw the media off the scent of some other nefarious plot.

I'm not really following any of this....
So, is Trump wanting to buy Greenland personally out of his own pocket for his own personal use? Of is he inquiring on behalf of the United States to buy Greenland with tax payer money?
With Greenland kinda like Puerto Rico in relationship to US territory? And where its citizens would be US citizens?
If that were the case, where Trump is shopping on behalf of the United States purchasing then I'd be ok with that.
But if Trump is looking to buy for himself and with Trump as the only owner, then I want to know where he got all the money?
The Soviets? Soaking the US government? Tax evasion? Collusion?
We all know the Trump family has their fingers in all sorts of government business and are personally making a hell of a lot of money from it. Something that with any other president would be totally illegal and considered as criminal activity.
But, Trump is not treated as any other president, obviously.
Donald Trump and his Trump clan can poke their fingers into anything they want, into anything that looks shiny, into anything that catches there eye, and into anything that has the potential to make them lots of money.
Moscow Mitch would never allow Obama to get away with this. But for Donald Trump its perfectly fine.
And.... you won't hear a peep about any of this from Fox News.
Fox only picks on black presidents and women presidential wannabes named Clinton.

So.... is Greenland for the Trump trophy shelf, or for the United States property?
