The left complains that President-elect Trump isn't draining the swamp, and then when he starts to drain the swamp they complain he's a callous bastard for draining the swamp.

I'm sure that Donito "Little Fingers" Trumpolini appreciates you acting as his little white knight on the interwebs. Maybe it will be worth some kind of medal of appreciation someday.

The guy is a political appointee and he got the job by being appointed by Obama. Obama is out and so are Obama's appointees. Did any of them cry when the previous appointees who got hired by Bush were fired so that Obama could hand out jobs to people he wanted? This happens with every new administration, the only outrage is that some people here and in the press are too stupid to understand how political appointments work.

drain the swamp had to do with lobbyists, pay to play, cronyism, lifelong politicians - not leaving sensitive positions unmanned altogether until a replacement is found or having a diplomat not have his kid finish 5 months of school before vacating.

you seem to mix things up a lot. must be a weird rightwinger thing

It might help if you knew the actual details before you start sounding off.

"Later in the day, the Post updated its story to note that Schwartz, who was appointed by President George W. Bush, had twice before offered a customary letter of resignation to President Obama which was declined."

I fail to see anyone who complained that Trump was going to fill positions with his people as is traditional. It's the manner of which some positions are being vacated compared to probably the rest of the way it's been done in history. Not leaving certain positions totally vacant or taking into account family and personal decisions. That's all.

Of course Trump can appoint who he likes, but he going about it in a half assed manor. People in positions like these are not "The Swamp".

He is busy creating another swamp at the moment, while randomly wrecking things with little to no thought of what will be a replacement, just because he is able to.

"You're Fired", etc.

What does this DC national guard chief do on a day-to-day basis? What will be wrecked by this seat being vacant for a few weeks?

You sound about as casual about it as Trump.

"Who cares about that guy, etc"

Randomly kicking someone who has been doing a competent job for a long time just for show is bad form, many people have been retained in positions by new presidents in the past.

Just doing it for show is bad form.

It's not like he's kicking him out of the national guard, is he? Just removing him from his assigned post.

fwiw I clicked the link after making my post and can agree that in this instance, the decision looks odd since the guy will actually be operating security for the inauguration, so yeah Trump probably did this in a bad way.

EDIT: Although apparently Trump had already assigned a replacement, so I take it back, this story means pretty much nothing.

Such a shill.

Trump's actions in no way exemplify a smooth transition of power or the continuity that's in the interests of the people.

How does Trump issue lawful orders before he's sworn in?

He's issuing orders now, in case you hadn't noticed.

1. There's a difference between issuing an order without power to do so, and issuing an order to be effective upon the moment of attaining power. There is nothing unusual about the latter, and the story doesn't even try to frame it that way, so I don't know where you get the idea he's already exercising a power not yet reserved for him.
2. The guy had already resigned; Trump's admin just sent back a notice for him to change the resignation for 12:01PM.

Schwartz got the job when his former commanding officer retired.

June 2003 - November 2004, The Adjutant General - Army, District of Columbia National Guard, Washington, District of Columbia
December 2004 - June 2008, Deputy Commanding General, District of Columbia National Guard, Washington, District of Columbia (Under the former Commanding General of the Militia of the District of Columbia National Guard Major General Wherley who had the position from 2003 to June 2008 when he retired)
June 2008 - Present, Commanding General of the Militia of the District of Columbia National Guard, Washington, District of Columbia.

If you can't understand the significance of what I just posted and how it differs from Trumps "purge" then whatever...

By Schwartz' own words, it's normal for new presidents to pick new appointees. He had written a letter of resignation for Obama in 2008 and was surprised that he was retained.

What's more, it has been common for new administrations to hold on to the commanders appointed by the previous president. Schwartz himself was picked for his command by President George W. Bush in the summer of 2008; President Obama kept him on for the entirety of his two terms.

Bush, in turn, kept Maj. Gen. Warren L. Freeman, a Clinton appointee, for his first two years in office. And President Clinton left Russell C. Davis — who had been appointed by President George H.W. Bush — in command of the force for nearly all of his first term.

Trump is probably afraid that he'll be toppled by protests like the other Putin puppet in Ukraine was, so he wants his loyalists in charge of the DC militia.

Yeah, maybe he'll light the White House up in Red, White and Blue, or perhaps a thin blue line, when we lose a police officer....things Obama wouldn't do.

I'm afraid this administration is going to be pretty much a face plant.
You can survive a face plant pretty well, the forehead is pretty dense. This is more like falling backwards down a staircase.

Big Gold Letters spelling TRUMP on the front lawn would be likely, with billboards with directions to the Old Library (I mean new Trump hotel) and to the new Russian backed Lobbying (Opps consulting firm) right around the corner also.

Здравствуйте!
