EL CENTRO, Calif. – Newly installed panels from the US border wall fell over in high winds Wednesday, landing on trees on the Mexico side of the border.

The area is part of an ongoing construction project to improve existing sections of the wall.

Agent Carlos Pitones of the Customs and Border Patrol sector in El Centro, California, told CNN that the sections that gave way had recently been set in a new concrete foundation in Calexico, California. The concrete had not yet cured, according to Pitones, and the wall panels were unable to withstand the windy conditions.

It's either the lowest bidder got the job and what followed is what's expected of that kind of shoddy work OR the highest bidder got the job who is most certainly connected to Trump in one corrupt way or another under the "share the wealth" tradition that our corrupt politicos and business folks have practiced over the decades that will again result in shoddy work due to their efforts to maximize profits.

Either way, us taxpayers end up holding the bag and end up paying for repairs or rebuilds that will of course be shoddy work that we will forever be paying to maintain, repair or rebuild with more shoddy work.

I uh...wouldn't put it past anything for large parts of the wall just being DPRK-style fake storefronts (basically a cheap set on an old Western, facade only) for press shots and/or, tbf, to confuse Orange Julius into thinking something is actually happening down there.

lol. imagine. large sections are just painted plywood for photo ops.

Of you could just read the linked article where it says.

So America paid for it, and Mexico got some free wall?

Only the best deals. So much winning.

not sure how that's supposed to help with the argument that the builder was competent.
yup, sounds like the foundation wasn't deep enough, once it set it should have held in a brisk wind.

curing can take several weeks.

Hmm. Sounds like shoddy work of a construction project. What else would you expect from Trump the real-estate and construction huckster, who cheated his workers? Maybe some of his buildings are merely accidents waiting to happen.

Meh - foundation was still curing and the high winds toppled the wall. It's really more of a "shitty contractor" that didn't properly brace the wall etc
This isn't a "Trump problem" per se. But it is entertaining to see anything of his fail and collapse regardless of the cause.

This is oddly one of the few times I'm rooting for government construction contracts to be executed so poorly that is all falls apart in a few years time.

One wonders how such a thing could have happened:

President Trump has personally and repeatedly urged the head of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to award a border wall contract to a North Dakota construction firm whose top executive is a GOP donor and frequent guest on Fox News, according to four administration officials..
Oh. Never mind...

It fell onto the Mexican side. That swatting feature just needs a little calibrating.
