I do not know if this has been posted here but Tяrump now says he would have fired Comey regardless of the recommendation from the acting Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/national-security/trump-says-fbi-director-comey-told-him-three-times-he-wasnt-under-investigation-once-in-a-phone-call-initiated-by-the-president/2017/05/11/2b384c9a-3669-11e7-b4ee-434b6d506b37_story.html?hpid=hp_hp-top-table-main_trumpcomey-120pm:homepage/story

He is getting more forgetful, more paranoid, more vindictive, his tongue becoming bitter and bitter. And many signs point to his advisers unable to correct him (let alone predict him) even though they have vested interest in him being a successful president.

I am afraid this might be an early symptom of dementia. I have no joy sharing my thought in this (had to think twice before posting) but a different inference is difficult to draw at this point.

Trump tells it like it is- Three different stories in three days.

This is so shocking. If what he says in this interview is true he confessed to obstruction of justice. (I mixed up the interview and the NYT article. I am going to see if transcript of the interview is available)

Edit: The shocking part is that his lawyers let him do this interview, not that he said what he said.

I cannot believe somebody did not cancel this interview. This was a stunningly bad idea. In the same breadth he linked Russia to Comey's firing. How is that not obstruction of justice?

I did not get a chance to watch the whole thing, but if the following is true it seems to me Tяrump committed obstruction of justice.

Trump also said he asked Comey explicitly whether he was personally being investigated as part of the bureau's Russia probe.

"I actually asked him, yes," Trump said. "I said, 'If it's possible, would you let me know am I under investigation?' He said, 'You are not under investigation.'"

http://www.cnbc.com/2017/05/11/trum...s-of-recommendation-that-was-given-to-me.html

It should be easy to verify. Also note that his interview instantly turns on the following people who tried to vouch for him, saying that the reason for Comey's termination was Rod Rosenstein's recommendation :

Mike Pence
Jeff Sessions
Sean Spicer
Sarah Huckabee Sanders
Kellyane Conway

Did they all conspire to lie to American public?

Plus it puts Rod Rosenstein in an untenable position where his legal memo might have been used to cover up his Boss's fraudulent act. If he did not know that he was being used, a right course of action would be to resign. If he knew how his memo was going to be used but allowed it to be used anyway, then he should be disbarred.

I have had that feeling for a while.. what really put into scary perspective for me was the interview in the oval where the metaphor about it being round went straight over his head.. if I am not mistaken exactly the inability to comprehend metaphors is a sign of onset dementia/alzheimers.. I dont know it may be nothing..

OMFG, to listen to Donald Trump accusing Jim Comey of being a "showboat" and a "grand stander." I haven't laughed that hard in a long time. Nearly fell off my chair.

This man apparently has no sense of self-awareness whatsoever.

Let's visit What-If-Land...What if Hillary Clinton had won the presidency and 110 days into her administration she fired Comey for how he handled the email investigation against her. In that land, all the same Republican's who are praising Trump for firing Comey for that very same stated reason, fully support President Clinton and her approval ratings soar into the 60's. I should also mention that in this land unicorns shit M&M's for all the kids and brown acid flows in all public water systems.

That Lester Holt interview with Trump appears to have been one of the great surrealistic experiences of our time. Trump basically throwing all of his loyal aides under the bus re: the reasons for Comey's firing was one thing, but that was easily eclipsed by his bizarre accusation of Comey as being "a showboat and grandstander". Setting aside the absurdity of that statement for a moment, yep, I guess there's only room for one of them in this town, eh? He hates grandstanders almost as much as he hates Presidents who play golf.

Watching Lester Holt right now. I dont know when they did the interview but Trump was on, lying like the piece of shit he is. Said there is absolutely no connection to Russia and nothing to investigate, he also took time to brag about winning the election, and of course he blamed Hillary & all the Democrats for as much as he possibly could.
Appeared like Lester was actually getting sick of the guy and looking for an excuse to end the interview prematurely.

Thing is that there is no legal obligation for a politician to tell the truth so anyone can lie unless they are under oath.

There's no obstruction of justice in firing Comey in itself. The burden is to prove that Trump's action was to protect others from investigation and that's damned hard to prove.

Did all the listed people conspire to lie? That's harder to say. Ultimately the people around a President rely on what is said by others in their position and the President. That last one is a huge problem for anyone because in moments black goes from white to black again. They must know that they are being fed bullshit from Trump because that's a press secs job, to spin, but a VP? Should never happen, and THEN the President makes them all out to be liars because he has no regard for anyone or anything other than his immediate wants.

Rosenstein is in no trouble whatsoever. He was asked for his opinion and wrote it down. It's an official document, but it isn't a "legal" one in the sense a statement under oath. If it were inaccurate he could be fired, but he can be fired anyway for any reason at any time. This document is like a business memo and the bar has nothing to do with it. Now he might be pissed, I know I would, but he may be more wary now and look for traps or indeed, just maybe, watch for wrongdoing and report it. Who knows?

The bottom line regarding Trump is that anyone has the legal right to make himself look like a fool.

If he fired Comey to prevent him from continuing the Comey investigation or by some belief it would kill the Comey investigation it is indeed obstruction of justice.

I completely agree, but to prosecute a President requires more than presumption of guilt and that's substantial evidence. It is difficult to imagine that Comey's dismissal isn't linked to his investigations, however there is a great difference between what we know and what we believe and that is a huge gulf to span in court.
