As a side note, I'm sure laying off thousands of federal workers in extremely undignified ways, hurting all the associated economic activity with government spending and whatnot, and also starting a huge recession will do wonders for civil order.

This was always part of the plan. Get some civil unrest to spawn and then invoke the Insurrection Act.

So you guys still holding faith that the courts will save us? Even though Trump can't be punished for violating court orders after the six GOP clerics of the supreme court handed him a crown?

No. If/when the courts do act (jury still out, pun not intended) it'll already be to late to stop the worst parts. Anything that can stop the slide would have to be more unconventional. Like the markets forcing a return to some semblance of normalcy.
