Then again so was Hitler, Stalin, Khomeini, Putin and yes... Obama

I love that the GOP is heralding this as a tremendous accomplishment and some sort of ringing endorsement for Trump. It just means that he has been "the big name" this year (good or bad)

He deserves it, Although I wouldn't have been upset if Putin or Farage won it. These 3 are Titans who may not be perfect but are leading the free world.

I wonder if they'll will use the same photographer who did the Newsweek cover of Michele Bachmann a couple years ago. It would be awesome!

Makes sense. Most conservatives are two faced about TMOTY. They only agree when its someone they like.

I cannot remember the last time I or anyone I know read Time Magazine. I don't disagree with their statement that Trump was the most influential person in 2016, but who cares what they say?

I don't see how they could realistically have picked anyone else. Like him or not, he fought his own party, the media and the heir apparent to the throne and became president elect in a crazy election year.

I don't view man of the year as a good or bad thing, just basically saying "this person dominated the news cycles this year", it can be for good or bad reasons.

I agree. As a kid I read Time and Newsweek quite a bit because we got them at home and it was a great way to stay up on what was going on in the world. Now you can click on a website in 2 seconds and read about just about any topic you want in great depth.

makes sense. how could he not be? he had a ~30% chance to win the presidency, and did that. he's a bloated, bloviating, xenophobic, misogynistic racist, but what the fvck...

I do feel they should use this pic for the cover tho ;)

I know this is petty of me, and that isn't the more flattering of pictures, but Jesus he is a physically ugly person.

How could he not be? He's dominated nearly every bit of press and media for the last 18 months, took one of the craziest campaigns ever run all the way to White House. It's not a popularity or best person contest. It's been the most notable figure in the year. There's not even a close second.

I think Hitler also won "Person of the Century," iirc.

It's still early, but Trump has a pretty good shot at that, too!
