He promised America the border wall would be free. Shocker: he lied.

Now he's stamping his feet and demanding $5 billion in ransom money or he'll hold his signature until his face turns blue.

"Trump refused to rule out a government shutdown at his news conference last week.
“We need the money to build the wall — the whole wall, not pieces of it all over,” said the president, who repeatedly insisted during his 2016 campaign that Mexico, not U.S. taxpayers, would pay for the wall."

Thankfully, with Democrats in the House, the wall will never be built. This is just Trump raging against his defeat without understanding that his complaining will elicit less sympathy from the public, not more.

Trump can hire his own security out of his own pocket this next year. Since they wouldn't be government agents they can be arrested by local police for any shens.

If he couldn't convince the Republican controlled house to fund his silly little wall, why would he think it's going to happen with a Democrat controlled house? If I recall correctly, shutting the government down doesn't usually work out so well for the party causing the shutdown.

I am shocked! shocked that Mexico will not happily pay for this wall.

Hey Mr. President how about Wall funding being part of an immigration fix?

Weak joke. Ignore it.

It's probably the lame excuse he'll use, if he bothers to excuse making Americans pay for it at all.

"We're going to be reimbursed by Mexico for the full $5 billion, right after I provide full evidence of those "5 million fraudulent votes" that I claim won Hillary the popular election."

He said he has 10 billion dollars. He can take it out of his petty cash fund.

By all appearances Donald hasn't made the slightest effort to have Mexico pay for it. As I recall he frequently said he could accomplish that in fifteen minutes (through threats of tariffs apparently). He could forgo one late night tweeting session and solve this.

Can't wait for the punditry that claims allowing a Republican controlled government to shutdown in the lame duck over wall money is going to hurt the Dems in 2020.

If the GOP and Trump want to make themselves look stupid again then have at it. Or in the words of Leahy in the story:

“If it’s wall or nothing, they’re going to get nothing,” Sen. Patrick J. Leahy (Vt.), the ranking Democrat on the Senate Appropriations Committee, said Monday during a conference call with reporters.

Please do, the money will all get funneled to Trump industries and close to nothing will get built.

No, his base should build it for free out of rusty mobile home parts, blown up meth labs, and empty gold bond bottles.

I'd trade him the wall for signing Medicare for all into law.

Trump will strike a deal for citizenship with undocumented workers, who will build the wall at his usual rates

Serious question
Is it that hard to get funding past our current Republican Congress? Even with a fillabuster is it that hard to make a compromise that attracts 2 Independent and 7 Democrat Senators?

Trump is the one who's fucked it up every time by agreeing to a compromise then demanding a ton of limits on legal immigration after the fact. He could have had his wall money more than a year ago if he dealt in good faith. That window is now well closed.

I know, I remember that meeting with Chuck & Nancy when this was resolved in I think all parties said 10 minutes.

Trump built a wall. Just around himself.

Bah, don't even cater to that. Mexico will pay for it, repeatedly promised. Hammer on that.
