The public has known the Russians hacked our election with the goal of electing Trump. We know the Russians continued to hack even after 2016. In fact they tried to back Claire McCaskill 2018 campaign. Knowing this Trump has held zero meetings on election security. Well, he had one Friday. Here are the takeaways.

I lasted 30 minutes.
No new orders coming from POTUS on stopping the Russians
Republicans blocked additional funding to improve election security for states.
No new strategy to protect the midterms and elections moving forward
Trump eliminated the position head of cyber security

Don't believe it? Here is the Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats.
Dan Coats, the director of national intelligence, said in a speech this month that "the system is blinking red" on Russia cyber threats but "we have to do better in what we deliver to our customers."

Ask yourself, "Is Trump doing his job to protect this country"?

You want better election security? Well, then here are a few suggestions.

1. Purge the voter rolls of all the dead, the made up, the double listed, those listed in other counties, and especially, get rid of all non-US citizens.

2. Require all wanting to vote to possess and valid government issued photo ID.

3. Pay attention, because this is important: vote on paper. Get rid o f all computer voting machines. They are not safe. Yes, yes, I know that one can cheat using paper, just look at what the Democrats have done in the past, but it is still harder to do and unlike with computers you can have an actual recount of votes.

1) I'm pretty sure that's done now.

2) as long as those ID's and needed documents are free, sure. Otherwise you are treading in poll tax territory.

3) we should always have a paper trail.

None of those address election hacking and meddling though.

I'm ok with #1
I'm ok with #2 if you make the government(s) responsible for issuing ID to every eligible citizen for free. Once that is done enforce requirement.
I'm ok with paper as a backup. Also methods for quick auditing be required for each state.

Having said all that we still need a response to a cyber version of 9/11 and have have not had it.

Well who knew that the Repubs have decided it's much more preferable to allow the Russians/Chinese/North Koreans help them win elections than to have the Dems who are their fellow Americans have a fair chance at winning at the polls?

But then why would it be so surprising to realize this when the Repubs have been dedicated to winning elections every single underhanded way they could think of bar none in their efforts to return the nation back to those good 'ol days where men were men, women knew their place in the household, children were forced to work for a penny a day, the Christian faith reigned supreme and the KKK was THE most popular non-profit civic-minded organization that a man could ever hope to be a member of?

I thought these disenfranchising Voter Rights laws that the Repubs cooked up were bad enough let alone how they managed to ram Citizen's United through their rigged Supreme Court. But now it seems that allowing foreign powers to heavily influence our elections is an integral part of Trump's "New Normal" method of winning big and then running everything he touches into the dirt.

Isn't it amazing that Trump's followers are just fine with having Putin run our country through his own puppet president? Must be karma kicking in that what we have been doing to other nations Putin is now doing to us simply because Trump's supporters and a feckless cowardly Repub owned legislature are allowing Trump and Putin to get away with it all.

Or mail in fraud which is like 90% of voter fraud.
In person or even mail in fraud is such an insignificant thing it’s foolish to talk about.
Seriously if you spent the entire day casting in person fraudulent votes how many could you possible cast over the 14 hours or so that you’re allowed to vote? I can’t imagine being able to drive to a new location and vote taking less than 30 minutes.
I’m going to guess if you made a huge effort maybe you could cast 50 votes.

Does anyone else see a problem with a meeting on election security chaired by a known Russian mole?

What's needed is to inoculate people's headsets against the messaging of foreign actors. That's easier said than done when they just amplify the message of Trump & the GOP.

The Russians have to believe that we're the most gullible people on the planet. But so do GOP politicians. Go figure.
