And Treasury Secretary Nerdy McHobbit is considering lifting them altogether. Now we know one of the orders...I mean favors Putin demanded...I mean asked Trump at their secret meeting in Helsinki
Even as new evidence surfaces that someone, probably in Russia, is meddling with another American election, we can forget about strict punishment from sanctions for at least one of the Russian oligarchs closest to President Vladimir Putin.

This week, the Trump administration further eased its pressure on Rusal, Russia’s largest aluminum company, less than four months after sanctions on it and its notorious leader were imposed. Even as the White House seems willing to inflict pain on American farmers and consumers with its trade wars, Russian aluminum workers are apparently worthy of special protection.

Screw those farmers with the trade war we have to take care of those Russians companies. AMERICA FIRST BITCHES. You Trump people are such fools.

How about this traitor mnuchin? So fuck over the hard working farmers of the US with you bullshit tariifs, but ease up on the russians?
Wow, just effing wow.

"Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin has said he is considering lifting the sanctions altogether because they are punishing the “hardworking people of Rusal.” But Mr. Mnuchin has it backward. If he was truly concerned about Rusal’s 61,000 employees, he would not relent until the company fully washed its hands of Mr. Deripaska and the corrupt regime the aluminum giant serves."

Congress should re-implement them by law and let the only mechanism for their lifting be an outright repeal. No more executive discretion.

Or at one of those Rose Garden victory lap celebrations where every one of these crooked Repub mofo's all gather up to brag about how they ripped off the middle class for another huge chunk of cash and handed it all over to their wealthy donors and themselves again.

So explain this to me. Canadian aluminum is a security concern but from Russia it is not?

Its not a security concern however in order to issue tariffs via executive order it had to be done for security reasons. Of course those reasons were bullshit but because we have the worst Congress of all time who thinks doing their job means doing nothing, the president isn't kept in check like the founding fathers intended

Canadian steel is the security threat, not aluminum.

Exempted from Donald Trump’s 10% tariff imposed on other aluminum providers, Canada and Mexico represent 40.6% of US aluminum imports.

http://www.worldstopexports.com/us-aluminum-imports-by-supplying-country/

It's confusing because steel & aluminum tariffs were announced at the same time.

OTOH, it would def give Russian aluminum a competitive advantage over other exporters to the American market. Just forget their international thuggery & cyber psyops machinations in the interests of better relations & a more prosperous Russia.
