Trump claim tax cuts for the rich were going to trigger massive economic growth. Reality, not so much. 2.3% in 2019

Lowest economic growth since 2016. Wait a second I though if we just gave the rich massive tax cuts growth would hit. Trump's current chief economic adviser said we would get 4-5% growth and the tax cuts would pay for themselves.

I guess the gullible Republican base has been fooled one more time about tax cuts for the rich. Have we learned our lesson yet?? 2019 has shown the economy is not quite what Trump is claiming. Shocking as that may be.

if they didn't learn in the 1980s, in the 2000s, they will never learn in the 2020s.

wash, rinse, repeat.

the republican party is looking more and more like a cult.

Seems like they learned just fine, they have learned that they don’t really pay a price for lying about their policies so they will just keep doing that until it stops working.

Damn those evil Demoncrats in the House, how dare they oppose Dear Leader and attack our economy like that?!
  • Problem: Trump is a failure.
  • Solution: Give Trump absolute power so he can win.

I was referring to the average republicans, the politicos and leaders know exactly what what they are doing and play the average members.

The economy is going to be in the dumpster until we improve the wealth distribution. Rich just aren't spending that much more even if they make a lot more money. Mostly they just run up asset prices.

GOP are always talking about the "job creators". What creates jobs is demand. You know, all the middle and lower middle class people who buy all your shit.

Trump lies again. Who knew?

There's this vast disconnect between how Trump and his cronies, including those many that have been convicted/indicted of crimes committed on his behalf and by his order have systematically hacked away at the Constitution, the Rule of Law, protocol, decorum, ethics and morality in order to create this de facto Trump led fascist state in close alliance with Russia and the large number of Trump's supporters that's still under their control, supporters that claim they are patriotic loyal Americans who see Trump as their savior and the savior of the nation "that previously suffered indescribable damage under the leadership of that liberal socialist no-birth-cert black commie Muslim".

Worse still, it has come to pass that the vast majority of the Repubs in the Legislature have sided with Trump despite his horrific self-serving behavior and those detestable personality disorders of his that has the rest of the world laughing their asses off at how such a moron could have been elected president of the most powerful nation in the world.

This surreal set of circumstances, this incredulous alt-reality that Trump has created and cast over the nation in order for him to brutishly rule over us the only way he knows how has been vetted, calibrated and about to be certified that whatever crimes that Trump has committed is A-OK policy and practice and is good to go for another four years or until a Democrat takes over that would like to rule the nation the same way Trump does.

Only middle class and poor people are fooled.

The rich people know it's bullshit, intentionally so, because it's designed to benefit them, not everyone else.

The attitude is it's not their fault if others were too stupid and voted for it.

Personally, my 401s, 529s and investment accounts are doing great with all the stock buybacks.
My wife and I are well on track to retiring as multimillionaires.

In the end, we'll have the last laugh over the avg Joe dumb fuckers in the Midwest and South who voted away their interests and children's future prosperity in order to deify a failed NY con man living in a sky castle on borrowed Russian mob money.

About that "end".... do you actually feel safe when the nation tears itself apart? When there is civil unrest and terrorism stopping the flow of goods? When store shelves are empty and the starving masses, armed to the teeth, are looking for their next meal? Afghanistan will be a much safer place than what likely awaits us down this road we are on.

The fall of nations has happened before, in living memory. We are terribly close to having that occur here. Best case we become Iran, worst case... Mad Max.

Not happy about any of it, but rich people have the means to get out or avoid consequences.
It's always the small people who get crushed.

True, I just don't think couple of millions in your 401K is going to be enough to get out and avoid the consequences should shit hit the fan. My 401K is doing well too, but again, it is not going to be enough to get my family out and provide a nice life outside the US. In the grand picture me and you and most of us on this board are still "plebs", we have enough money to be comfortable, but not enough to be truly insulated from societal upheaval.

Headline on Drudge: SCARBOROUGH: Trump's So-Called Great Economy WORSE than Jimmy Carter's 'Year of Malaise'...

Yikes. This is while Fed is keeping rates below inflation and quantitatively easing and GOP is running a 13 figure deficit, economy should be booming.

Let's be real, far worse things have happened in our past, let alone other countries. We may even have ancestors that survived them.

Only thing I can ultimately do vote in Nov for the best, then be prepared on my own for the worst.

It's the fools in Trumpistan who are going to get ground up.

How's those steel tariffs working? Oh, your coal mine shut? Who would have known? Well least you got food stamps and Medicaid... Oh no, he cut those too? A Republican did that? Shocking.

At least you still have SS... Hahahaha... Who's kidding, were burning through a trillion a year in deficits and he's starting to talk about cuts to reduce the deficits.

Well, feel good you kicked out some Mexicans, clearly they were your biggest problem...

Suppose there is merit to saying you are in a better position... you have more options. Though I would fear nothing is safe enough when push comes to shove.

Yep. Tax cuts for rich people is a crappy way to stimulate the economy.

It's better than the austerity the Rs imposed on the Obama era, but barely.

To think what we could have done had we pushed the gas hard when it mattered most post-recession, and what better things could have been built with those trillions spent other than an expanded class of billionaires.

Because Trump is a loser when it comes to numbers.

Yeah, he is a millionaire, but it is from criminal behavior. Not from being an actually savvy business man.

GOP is destroying American capitalism. When they are done with it, "capitalism" will be a dirty word.

This x10000000

I'm dismayed.

Somehow the communist Chinese becoming arguably better capitalists than us.

Understand
1. I'm pissed off and being a bit facetious.

2. I do have family that was forced to flee SA bc of apartheid and the govt seizing their property. I would call that way worse than any of this will get.
I also say "flee" because they were more wealthy (like upper middle class wealthy) and did have the money and means to leave. Not many else did and suffered worse.
