I want to know WHY Trump came back early? Like, what is he planning to do, change the locks on the Whitehouse? Or because he can't trust his senate republicans, and to personally make sure his senate republicans stop the EC certification? We're the cops about to arrest Trump as his Mar-A-Lago hideout? Whatever the reason somethings going on and I guess we'll find out come January 6th.

I dont know if you guys are aware of this but considering the kind of people he hangs out with a thousand dollar dinner is actually not very much.
For real fundraisers they probably do more like 10 grand a pop. So yeah I agree with whats his face. This was all ceremonial, he wants to see whos still supporting him, cuz deep down inside he knows he doesnt have the sway he did before the election.

Remember when you were invited to a New Year's Eve party, and the question you ask was.... "do I need to bring anything", and host said, "Naw, I got it covered".

He doesn't know shit. He still has tons of sway, but mostly from the unwashed masses who can't afford $1k per plate dinners.
^^ The look says : "Come February, I'm taking everything you have. All of it."
So she gets billions less billions in liabilities? Should still be enough to live like royalty... in Slovenia.

I doubt those "elite guests" care about $1k or Trump at the end of his presidency, they likely just to find a place to party without worry police knocking on the door - FL have lock down order right?

He has sway with Republican primary voters but his political power outside the party has evaporated entirely.

I mean right now his own party is helping override his vetoes by huge margins because they know he’s done.

Makes me wonder how much value his endorsements will have in the upcoming midterms. That should be a bellwether moment for him and his chances for a run in 2024.

Well over half the Republican party is about to object to the certification of Joe Biden's win in the House

I sincerely, sincerely doubt he runs in 2024. If he does it will end in embarrassment.

I do wonder if he will become another Sarah Palin or if his appeal will endure within the party though.

So...on a thing that will do nothing but signal the base.

Exactly
I'm not sure why you don't think hundreds of Republican officials catering to the insanity of a rabid cult base is not a problem. This is what got us Trump in the first place

I think it is a problem, it fundamentally undermines democracy. At this time it will be a miserable failure though.

Trump enjoys a cult of personality that no wannabee successor can even begin to match. He crafted his persona & mystique for decades. Nobody messes with their minds like the Donald. They'll try to pick up where he left off but it's the kind of thing that seldom works any better than it did for the Gang of Four after Mao's death.
