During an appearance on MSNBC's "The Sunday Show," conservative campaign consultant Tara Setmayer predicted that, should the Republican Party reclaim the House in November, Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) will not replace Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) as the House Speaker.

"Is there a chance McCarthy could become speaker, but without any real power within the party," host Capehart asked.

"Donald Trump cannot wait to humiliate Kevin McCarthy even further."

"We've seen this," she added. "He gets off on the idea of Kevin McCarthy's fealty.
When McCarthy went on the floor of the House like [Mitch] McConnell did after January six, they actually spoke the truth about how they felt but what was going on. They had a chance to off-ramp from Trump, and when everyone thought maybe this is it, what did he do?
Two weeks later, he goes down to Mar-a-Lago and he gives them some dollar store trophy and smiles next to him and he thinks this is going to work. It is not."

If the Dems pick up a couple Senate seats by beating Trump choices and the house stays very tight even if the GQP takes control, there's going to get some wonderful infighting in the party of horrible shitty people who call themselves Republicans these days

Self haters acquire status negatively, by making somebody else feel worse. The Republican party has gathered together the kind of people who hate themselves the most. The blessing for the rest of us in this is that by this process of self advancement they destroy each other creating the joke of a party we see. The thing about hating other people is that it brings no satisfaction based as it is on a vacuum that is created with the loss of self respect.

Yeah, that smile on Kevin's face when posing with Donald Trump was a smile of smelling loot. Cashola. $$$$$. And if I remember, in the millions, or at least one million. That sure made Kevin act Trump giddy. Kevin was so excited and thankful, Trump could have asked Kevin to do anything at that point even to suck Trump's.... oh never mind, we won't go there, but Kevin would certainly have done that too.

But a million doesn't last that long, not really. Especially for a politician. And more so for a politician like Kevin McCarthy. Yeah, Donald Trump will eventually turn on Kevin McCarthy. And just as Donald Trump has destroyed many who dare do Trump's bidding, Kevin's fate will be no different. The day will come when Kevin regrets having ever associated himself with Donald Trump, but as with so many of Donald Trump's victims... by the time they realize their tragic mistake that are too totally devastated to show any emotion. They have became the excrement of Donald Trump. Good luck Kevin.... o_O

No there won't. All of the "moderates" have been purged or weren't running for re-election. You're going to get an even purer variant of MAGA in the next GQP house caucus. And they'll be strict in their party line voting. They'll make the tea party look like greenpeace.

There will definitely be infighting. There already is. Republicans financially supporting more moderate GOP candidates in primaries against trumpies. And donors don't like contributing millions to losing candidates in what are normally favorable midterm conditions. I think maga will get more hardcore but I think it will be a shit show

If the republicans lose in this midterm I wouldn’t expect much to change as the people who will lose their seats are the moderates in competitive districts. If anything we will just be left with the crazies who can’t lose.

But those candidates (Cheney, Kinzinger, etc) will all be gone. There won't be anyone to fight as they'll all be pureblood MAGAts. Everyone that remains in an elected federal position that is a "Republican" will be onboard with the GQP.

Which is only representing 30% of the voting population. If they want to act like lemmings and go off the cliff, let them.

Not in the Senate. It's the Trumpie candidates who are all at risk of losing.
