In the grand scheme of tone deaf tweets these have to be at the top of the pile. Holy shit. Your commander in chief, folks. What a fucking child.

Seriously, any CEO that vomits something like that out would be gone. But since we have a bunch of complicit swamp creatures benefiting from him they simply slither back into the shadows and disappear instead of holding him remotely accountable.

He used dog whistles and populist rhetoric together in ways the public never saw before. This caused them to identify with him. That's all it takes, full stop. After that their Ego defends the Identity unto its dying breath. No amount of delusion or detachment from reality is too big for the human mind.

Their brains had been well-primed for the Trump injection, but yes--exactly this.

Elected and certainly non-elected leaders used to be routinely assassinated over a mere 10th of the daily nonsense that this 70 year-old toddler is responsible for. Our founders provided a far more civil solution for removing such profoundly incompetent, universally unpopular, deplorably indefensible scum, called impeachment. And yet no one really has to guess why the GOP is refusing to act--the toddler wails while the GOP continues looting and raping the people, as is the entirety of their platform--but it's only going to get uglier the longer they stall on performing their actual "elected" duties of serving the people and the country.

All of these assholes in the GOP need to be brought to justice, in some way, for dumping this steaming turd on what used to be a pretty great country. Fuck them all in their rotten, distended, assholes. All of them.

Ok, seriously, thats not true.

Which part(s), exactly?

This is not just appealing to your electorate, EVERY candidate does that. It's the quality of the electorate that is shocking, nothing like the people who elected bush or even Dubyah... jesus, i got friends who voted bush sr. But i think you have to be mentally defective to vote trump. AND then not realize what horrible job he is doing, too.

Is half the nation mentally defective? No, I don't think so. Deficient maybe, but not defective. Maybe that's just arguing definitions at this point. And don't kid yourself, some fairly intelligent people can be lost in partisan narratives and delusional thinking. If there's a cut off, an upper limit, I don't know what that would be. Doubt anyone has truly studied the matter.

At what point in our life times has such a con man made it to the top of the national stage and spoke to people in such a raw, down to earth, fashion? He spoke of jobs, blamed the scapegoats of immigrants and China. Blamed free trade. The sort of red meat narrative was new, and it resonated. No other Republican looking to be President, in our life times, was like Donald Trump. None of them spoke like Trump.

After identifying with that narrative, people's brains are hard wired to excuse all sorts of things. Including Trump's obvious problems.

There's few people whose ugly, nasty death I would celebrate....this fucker is getting there.

At the least he should have to go live in a hard-hit area of PR for a year. He can explain to all those American citizens how only 16 people died and the effort was "A+".

I will say the 3,000 number seems to be a pretty wild guess. I'm bet it was more than 2-3 dozen, but the 3,000 and where it's based from seems to be a crap shoot at best. I really don't think we'll ever have a very concrete number.

Here's a decent article explaining it all and the wildly varying totals.
https://www.cnn.com/2018/08/29/us/puerto-rico-growing-death-toll/index.html

The actual exact number isn't really the point as it's certainly at least hundreds. Which is well into "awful tragedy" territory.

This core issue is how Dump will take something truly horrible and terrifying and say it was actually pretty good and anyone who says he did a terrible job is out to get him.

I get that entirely. That's not my point at all. I'm just saying that the "3000" number being thrown around really doesn't have much merit. I don't have faith in any number being reported right now as being "accurate".

There probably isn't a way to ever know with something of this scale. Many deaths were tangentially related, or hastened by the hurricane and events after.

I think focusing on the exact number is a tactic used by the right to deflect attention from our "the buck stops somewhere else" president and his TOTAL inability to take personal responsibility for anything bad that has happened. I honestly don't think he's ever done it, certainly not since becoming president.

But we could have known if there was a better response. There were many reports of deaths in the hundreds almost immediately after the storms, but the administration chose to ignore these reports and claimed that only "6-18" people died. This allowed them to drag their feet with the relief efforts because they were already doing a great job.
The 3,000 people in this latest report died after the hurricanes because the relief effort was actually very poor. Many of them literally could have been saved!

The methodology employed in the independent study is valid and conservative. As an example, if someone was trapped in the wreckage and died a week later this would be a "hurricane death", according to the study. As they didn't die until the hurricane passed it would seem that it wouldn't count for Trump. Likewise, natural disasters create a spike in disease which is directly attributable to the event. The disease killed people but the sole causative factor was the hurricane.

Do you know how many people died of the flu pandemic as defined by most US standards for certification of death? Very few. To argue that the 19th pandemic didn't cause worldwide death would get one laughed at by the very people who filled out those forms. You see the flu didn't kill them but the pulmonary events associated with the Pandemic.
Regardless of corruption his disconnection from reality demonstrated over a long period of time makes him a real and proper candidate for the 25th.

Again - I TOTALLY agree with this. I hate him as much as anyone.

My God in heaven. This guy has to be the world's biggest douchebag

Donald Trump Says 3,000 People Did Not Die in Puerto Rico Because of Hurricane Maria, Some May Have Died From Old Age

https://www.essence.com/news/politics/donald-trump-denies-3000-puerto-rican-deaths/

It's a Deep State conspiracy with Crisis Actors??

If he successfully gets people talking about Trump or arguing about the methodology of the casualty reports rather than focusing on his so-called-Administration's inept response to this natural disaster on American soil, then he will consider it a win. It's how he's reacted to everything else and it's worked for him. It appears to be more of an actual uncontrollable reflex for this asshole

Not only did those people not die from the hurricane, according to Trump, but the Democrats apparently came up with the numbers (not The George Washington University) just to make him look bad (as if he doesn't manage to do that without any help).

Trump tweet this morning:
"This was done by the Democrats in order to make me look as bad as possible when I was successfully raising Billions of Dollars to help rebuild Puerto Rico. If a person died for any reason, like old age, just add them onto the list. Bad politics. I love Puerto Rico!"

He should have taken a picture of himself eating a taco salad to prove how much he loves them.

For once Donny told the truth. It WAS his best. 3000 dead is the best he can do. We should be thankful it wasn't 5000 dead.

He's such a disaster of a human being this doesn't even surprise me.

I do think it's great that Trump is emphasizing his sterling douchebag credentials right before the midterms though. Please keep it up shithead.
