How im gods name have you managed to produce a population of voters so fucking delusional to think trump is anything but an idiot.

He used dog whistles and populist rhetoric together in ways the public never saw before. This caused them to identify with him. That's all it takes, full stop. After that their Ego defends the Identity unto its dying breath. No amount of delusion or detachment from reality is too big for the human mind.

I'd like to similarly respond to Trump being on fire by not pissing on him.

Walking talking piece of crap, he should be made to live in a devastated area of PR for a year.

They were pre-programmed to receive it all by decades of GOP agitprop & lies. Trump just turned the volume up to 11.

Ok, seriously, thats not true.

The entire world thinks trump is a moron. This is exclusive to trump, there was no such thing when either Bush were in office. It's ONLY the american right who supports him, when other republicans have had respect from other countries. People still think Reagan was a great president, they think bush sr was a person of respect who was important in international politics, and to a point, safeguarded the west against a russian threat.
IT'S THE SAME ELECTORATE. The same god-fearing, grits-eating people who wanted a great and beautiful american military who now applaud a moron who spends 9/11 ranting about his criminal investigation.
The president is a result of the electorate; there were other options, hell they could have elected mccain, i can understand people wanting to get behind bear-shooting mom Palin, but trump ??? What souther quality does trump embody? What sort of ideal republican does he represent?

This is not just appealing to your electorate, EVERY candidate does that. It's the quality of the electorate that is shocking, nothing like the people who elected bush or even Dubyah... jesus, i got friends who voted bush sr. But i think you have to be mentally defective to vote trump. AND then not realize what horrible job he is doing, too.

Yeah but those people who supported Reagan are older now and they have decades of fox news under their belt. Add to that the mounds of garbage they received from political email spam and social media and you have a recipe for a whole new breed of political idiots, super idiots, if you will.

Surely Pat Robertson's "Shield of Protection" will keep the Carolinas safe...
How big of him. Oh Lordy, please save my network
“I don’t want that thing to come in,” Robertson said. “I don’t want it to hurt Regent, I don’t wait it to hurt CBN, I don’t want it to tear up the beautiful campus, I don’t want it to tear these trees down, I don’t want to see any damage, I don’t want a bunch of glass flowing, and I don’t want [damage] all over this area that is counting on us to pray for them.”

Robertson then commanded Florence, in the name of Jesus, to change its path away from land and to spin off into the Atlantic ocean.

“We declare in the name of the Lord that you shall go no farther, you shall do no damage in this area,” he said. “We declare a shield of protection all over Tidewater and we declare a shield of protection over those innocent people in the path of this hurricane. In Jesus’ holy name, be out to sea!”

When it doesn't work cue up excuses...

Ok, well, you need to do something about that. Seriously please, do not let that level of stupidity be socially acceptable.

From his perspective, he's right. But then he's a graduate of the Adolph Hitler School Of Human Relations With Brown People.

Very few whites died, so he sees the hurricane as a win-win situation.

Damn. Rough, but true.

It's also a wake-up call on climate change, as this has led to hurricanes moving slowly and causing massive flooding by just sitting in one place. Of course, I don't expect climate change deniers to wake up anytime soon. I think they sleep with propofol. Probably more likely to OD on the stuff than wake up.

Is that particular aspect linked?

I know increased ocean energy drives more storm activity, but specifically stalling and high rainfall behavior?

Don't knock grits, even as a Yankee I love them. Plus Florence is heading for the birthplace of shrimp and grits, a truly great meal.

What's most sad is that many of us who are working against him and his interests have absolutely seen that rhetorical combo used before and knew the results.

If you meant the anti-intellectual public, then I'm with ya. Those people will hate a good rock if it looks smarter than them.

He keeps bringing it up unprompted like he's going to personally change the fact that the response/recovery was bungled and 3K people died by sheer force of will.

The plus side of Trump's arrogance, incompetence, hubris and being a racist is that wherever he goes and shoots his lying mouth off he makes enemies that will vote against him with the exception of course, his cult base. They went over the loonie rainbow into Trump Candy Land and there's no coming back to the real world for them.

They've been relentlessly propagandized & exploited since Gingrich & beyond. As the reality of trickle down ideology has crushed the middle class they've been led to believe other forces are at fault.

Have y’all said good bye to the Carolinas yet? If that’s Trumps measure of success Tennessee is about to go beach front.

Never fear. Those areas where the storm is going to hit are big supporters of Trump. Ergo, unlike Puerto Rico where he thought by adding his name to the title of a golf resort over there it would miraculously save it from bankruptcy and where the folks are primarily Democrat leaning, Trump will kick some butt to make sure he doesn't lose support from those areas where Hurricane Florence will devastate.

To be clear, Trump doesn't give a shit about those folks from a compassionate point of view. All he cares about is making himself look good in front of folks who are possibly going to re-elect him. It's as always, about himself first and foremost.
