But that's just a simple game, not a process that needs to send/receive text, it probably would still work though.

To my knowledge, neither Apple nor Google has ever deployed a “kill switch” by deactivating apps previously downloaded. IIRC both have acknowledged that they have the capability.

Pretty simple, really. The MAGA crowd wants to remove the Section 230 protections that, ironically, protect the tech companies from liability for MAGA speech on their platforms. I mean, these assholes are plotting violent insurrection and other criminal, if not downright treasonous, activities on twitter, etc, and at the same time, they want twitter, etc to be potentially legally liable for the actions resulting from their speech.

But hey, it is fucking awesome reading so-called freedom loving strict Constitutionalist 'conservatives' insist that a private entity refusing to publish a Head of State is somehow a violation of free speech. I mean, when you really got reality backwards...

The obvious question of who will be regulating them for the next four years is apparent though increasing worker discontent in the face of an insurrection attempt has its own risks too.

Pulease, you're sounding like a tepid centrist. WTF can happen? The sympathizers in the military, you think they want to lose their jobs?

The banned.. They can't post. I can't think of a better way to shut them up. Trump becomes a nobody overnight. He's got the nuclear codes, but no general is going to use them. He's really done. I'm hoping more than anything right now that they successfully impeach his ass, 2/3 in the Senate and we're done with him. I can't think the GOP will give him much attention after that. His base will dwindle pretty damn quick when he's neutered.
 
I'm curious what Trump's response will be to this. I guess that he could release an executive order banning all government employees from using Twitter, but it would just be overturned about two weeks from now.

Honestly, I'm not sure if any government agencies would bother doing the work if that came to pass... they would probably say "Sure boss, I'll come up with a plan for that" only to throw out the half-completed plan once Biden gets sworn in.
