It's no blanket statement, it's a fact. Go over to Redstate and read the responses from fellow conservatives to Erick Erickson's latest post calling for Trump to apologize to McCain. The animals there ain't having it, they want blood and The Donald is their man. Redstate thinks Trump is an ass but the locals just love him to no end.

The Donald is reaping what conservative leaders have sown, and his crop is bitter, hateful and very angry right now.

Wow, that's impressive. You can determine what the majority of conservatives are thinking/feeling based on the comments of less than 100 individuals on some obscure website. I'm a moderate conservative and never heard of Redstate until I read your post.

Based on posts in this forum, liberals are far more bitter, hateful, and angry than the conservatives that post on here.

A truer truth could not be spoken. These are some very unhappy individuals that see no language as off bounds and will say whatever pops into their minds no matter how vile. Throw in the overwhelming desire for instant gratification and it intensifies.

WHAT (in the hell) have we been TRYING (and trying) to tell Trump supporters about "The Donald"?
Has no one been listening?

Like I said to the Donald Trump supporters alright already... to "be careful what you wish for".
If, "IF", Donald T. were actually elected president, it would only be a matter of weeks, no, a matter of days, until "president elect" Donald Trump said something or did something that pissed off everyone that were stupid enough to have voted for him.
I know that.
YOU don't know that?

And there you are, everyone that voted Donald Trump into office, kicking themselves in the ass, on a daily basis, and counting down the hours, days, weeks, months, years until they can get another chance to vote Donald the hell "OUT" of office.

Donald...
He says not so nice things about Hispanics.
Not so nice things about McCain.
Not so nice about, well just about everyone, eventually.
So, when Donald Trump gets around to making fun about church going Christians? Or makes fun about blue collar workers? Or white collar workers? Or single moms? Or married moms? Or stay at home moms? Or minimum wage workers? Or high salaried workers? Or tall people? Or short people? Black, white, red, yellow people. Or people that live in California? Or people that live in Texas? Or New York? Or Ohio? Or Utah? Or Alaska? Or Minnesota? Or Iowa? Or Tennessee?
When The Donald finally gets around to saying something offensive about YOU, you being that someone who once voted for Donald, will you be mad?
A little.... pissed off, maybe?

For crying out loud...
Even Jimmy Carter was elected into office, and Jimmy simply said that "Americans were spoiled", and people had a freak-out shit fit.
Then, they voted Jimmy's ass straight out of office.
And did that in a HUGE land slide.

What is that old saying about never forgetting history, or we are doomed to repeat it?
Jimmy Carter? Donald Trump?
Train wreck and national disaster. One in the same....

Well, I don't get it.
Whether the media is to blame? Or the people have just collectively lost their minds?
Or people just don't give a damn anymore? Or if its something in the water? Or cell phone radiation affecting the brain?
Or what it is...???

This isn't play TV folks. This is for real.
And why anyone would expect anything different from ...."Donald Trump".... is totally mind boggling to me.

Think of it this way, especially if you are a parent.
Every day you kid(s) say crazy things. Nutty things. Off the wall things.
And what do you do?
You ignore them.
And when they keep it up, and get on your nerves, you tell them to "SHUT UP AND GO TO YOUR ROOM !!!"
Right?
Well.... There you are.
Exactly how people should handle Donald Trump.
The answer is staring you right in the face.
And for parents, they do this every day, with their six year old child.

Little Billy might be funny for a while, or say something amusing, or possibly something nutty but it still makes you think.
After a while you realize Billy is just testing your nerves and talking nonsense just to hear himself talk. To get attention.
Then it becomes time to take control of your little Billy.

All I know is that when the children say something crazy that I agree with, I call them refreshingly honest and when they hurt my feelings I want them punished. I find it absolutely amazing that I'm the only one in the world who can accurately discriminate.

This is one of many flaws in the liberal/progressive thought processes. In this example, that the views of a few individuals that find safety in posting anonymously represents the whole.

"The few bad apples on *my* side are a fringe minority that certainly do not represent the whole of us, while the bad apples on *your* side are obviously indicative of your entire philosophy (and ultimately, that of anyone who disagrees with me,) and thus allows me to entirely dismiss your point of view."

Did I summarize that correctly? o_O

Yeh, Libs are bitter & angry over having a black man in the White House, gay marriage, illegal immigrants, agreements with Iran, cannabis legalization, abortion, progressive taxes, welfare, sex-ed, birth control & all the moralistic hot button bullshit that sets Righties to howling at the moon.

The best thing about Righties is their animal savagery- they'll turn on each other like sharks in a feeding frenzy. Trump excels at that, of course, having had a lot of practice turning on his investors & getting richer in the process.

Cite an opinion piece oozing false attribution to back up your own, never noticing the circular nature of it all. That doesn't solve cognitive dissonance but rather seeks to justify it.

I have to agree. The man endured far more in the service of his country than the vast majority of service members do or those of us who are civilians could even imagine.

The opposition to that is the fact that McCain suffered in the war and was more of a victim of it than a person who heroically changed the outcome for the better. A Hero is the person who saves the village, or gets the job done under impossible odds, or sacrifices themselves for the greater good. McCain is a veteran, but that doesn't make him a Hero.

The problem with Trump's remarks is he's appearing to denigrate veterans in general. Veterans deserve honor and respect for their sacrifice, and so its a tough subject when you want to point out someone is receiving more praise than warranted even though they deserve some to begin with. Its a matter of delicacy and Trump wouldn't understand or relate to common people that way.

The distinction between Veteran and Hero needs consideration given how misused and widespread the notion of Hero has become. These days everyone who does their job is a Hero. Every common man is a Hero, and that's just not the case.

But really, why would Trump even bother speaking about it? It's not a winning subject.

Calling McCain a victim certainly minimizes his actions in volunteering to serve his country, going for a vocation in the military that puts one in harms way (especially during a shooting war). He certainly understood the risks of his role in the military but don't undersell the courage it takes to do that role or any other roll that is essentially a front line combat assignment.

If you don't like the term hero, whatever, pick another word. But don't minimize their courage and what they had to endure by calling them "victims" it was war, they knew what the stakes were.

Trump certainly denigrated every member of the armed forces who has ever been held as a POW. Which is especially lame for a draft dodger. I'm sorry someone with a "bone spur" in his foot (but he can't remember which one).

The real point of all this is Trump is a loud mouth douche bag who inserts his foot in his mouth at a higher rate than even Biden. He certainly isn't presidential material.

Trump is technically right. The term "hero" is overused to the point where anyone who serves the military in any way is a "hero". And all Trump is doing is challenging that canard. The title "hero" should be reserved for those who do something exceptional, above and beyond the call of duty. Many of the medal of honor recipients for example put their lives at great risk or died in order to save their comerads. Getting shot down because you're a crappy pilot and then surrendering to the enemy isn't heroic. Just telling it how it is with no regard for people's personal sensitivities. Personally, I don't like John McCain, I think he's a scumbag.

If its a short list of people, you can add me to that list. I respect someone who says what they think. That makes that person more genuine whereas most politicans come off as phoney appeasers. Trump is definitely NOT that. I don't agree with everything he says, but he's bringing topics into discussion that the other candidates wouldn't otherwise have the balls to talk about. And that's one of the reasons he's leading in the polls.

Lol!..This coming from a draft dodger who worked the deferment system as much as possible during the vietnam era. Trump's post about McCain on Facebook is followed by approximately one bajillon messages of praise and support. After McCain just called Trump's supporters "crazies". Classic!...

Trump has gotta be trolling now...Trump's candidacy could benefit Jeb and some other candidates, as Trump sucks all the media attention away from his challengers. There's no better opponent than an attention whore who can't win. So if Trump is a troll, there could be some beneficiaries.

Balls to talk about what? Immigration has been beat to death over and over. Railing against illegals is old hat. Attacking an opponent's status as a "hero" because he was captured and tortured isn't discussing something that others don't have the balls to talk about, its being a complete ass hole. Trump is delusional to think he has a lot of support, enough to get to the white house. He's a side show and nothing more. I respect him as much as Gary Busey, they both spit out anything that comes to mind.

Wishful thinking is very conservative way to handle the anxieties of uncertainty. War hero is how we put a psychic bandage on the fact that as a nation we sent a generation of a wasted mission the disasters of which still haunt us today. We don't owe McCain hero worship, we owe him an apology for sending him in the first place and for all the misery he suffered and suffers even today. We protect ourselves from our shame. Viet Nam was an insane and hideous joke.
