Trump approval rating near 50%. Can anyone explain that to me?

I just checked 538 poll of polls. Trump is still underwater. He's been that way almost his entire presidency. A record since these polls were recorded.

Currently job approval (not just corona)
Approve - 45%
Disapprove 50%

His numbers have improved since March 11. That's close to the time he started taking this thing seriously. Changed his tune from being a hoax. Let's see how they look when we peak by mid to late April

America truly does deserve Donald Trump.
I don't agree.
If a minority wanted him in office and a majority hates his guts and everything he stands for, I don't think Deserve is the correct word for the situation. We did get stuck with him because we couldn't rally enough people to oppose him. So that fulfills the prophecy of "good men do nothing".

A majority voted for the other candidate.

DAMN! His 538 number at at highest since election at 46% During the height of his ineptness of this pandemic that exposed his complete incompetence.

is all time high was just after the inauguration 47.8%

I'm officially unqualified to comment on any polls when it comes to this turd. This article is disturbing

Unexplainable especially with performances like this...

Rally around the flag effect. His boost is also rather anemic compared to other leaders like Trudeau, Johnson, Merkel, etc.

Let's check back in a couple months.

It is the size of the minority that causes me to lean toward we deserve it. Liking any Republican should be equivalent to having social leprosy. Liking Trump, well, I won't even say it.

Sounds like the National Socialists Party attitude about Slavs and Jews? You from Germany by any chance in your claims to be a "Citizen of Europe" ?
Reference to the possibility that fake accounts might have skewed some polls -> Must be a Nazi
Comparing conservatives' appetite for propaganda to that of the Nazis -> OMG Godwin's you commie pinko!

Trump is currently enjoying record approval rating. Seems like many peple are happy with his response to this pandemic. WTF? I think he's done a horrible job. I just don't get it.

It's possible that there are those that think the virus is killing off the "right" people. The neighbor you hated, your ex-wife/husband, the boss that you can't stand.

I expect that his ratings will drop right into the mine shaft the second that the wrong people start dying. Take the most diehard Trumpanzee, and ask him/her if they feel the same way, while they're watching the coffin of their child, spouse, or parent being lowered into the ground.

See how fast Trump changes is tune, the second that Ivanka tells him that she or one of her kids just contracted the virus.

We just might need more of the wrong people to die, if we want to get rid of Trump in November.

I'll just leave this here for you tajjy
Its hard for Fox to push an alternate reality when people you know and care about is dying. What you are seeing right now is not what is happening - is hard to sell right now.

As explained by a republican strategist Steward Stevens who has helped get many republicans elected.

"Well, if you look around the world, all of these leaders in these countries who have been besieged COVID-19 are doing well in polls. I mean, in Italy, the government is at 70 percent, and they are dying like flies. I think that’s just a natural belief that we have to pull together, sort of a reflection of foreign policy ends at water’s edge sort of thing. I mean, we forget Bush went up originally after Katrina. I think that that is just sort of something that’s very — it’s not American, but we see it across the world. I think it’s very human to want to pull together. And Trump is the president, so you want to support the president. But at the same time, you see him losing to Biden by almost 10 points in these polls. So I don’t really think it means anything. "

Worst part of that interview was when the interviewer asked him something like : What gives you hope for the future? - To which he responded : I dont have any.

That is quintessential Republican ideology. Gotta tear down Government cause "nothing" works, and they have no ideas for how to help people. It's usually a mix of... people don't need help, people cannot be helped, government cannot help, etc. In a world where the 16th amendment exists, and we look to build community and help one another, they are lost.

Ideology tells them no you can't, reality tells them... yes we can!
