Trump approval rating near 50%. Can anyone explain that to me?

Decades of cutting education funding by republicans is paying off bigly.

It's a double win for them, make people dumb and stick it to the unions who they fucking loathe.

Edit: and it's hilarious that 50% of the country thinking he's a shithead is record approval for this guy.
Technically, its not 50% of the country. Its 50% of people who were surveyed.
I know for a fact they did NOT poll 315 million people. And as we all know its super easy to skew polls.

americans are dumb. These numbers will drop when the body bags start to pile up in massive numbers. Americans haven't experienced death like this in living memory.
You are correct. Most living Americans are quite ignorant of how hard the world can be, and are about to be given an unpleasant lesson.

Sure, most people like the way he's handling the crisis and few people give credence to the negative bullshit that's been spewed for the last 3 1/2 years. Hence his numbers are up.
Get your Easter suit from the cleaners? There will be a space waiting for you in the pews.

Since you are so sure he is handling this well what date did he start taking this seriously?

Tells you everything you need to know about people.
And that what he says on a daily basis matters less than the fact he is out there saying it, and assuring the country that this will all be over soon
Translation: People only care he is talking and don't care about the lies and misinformation

It's hilarious how Dems made Trump what he is based on their own failures...

Now they are destined to repeat it by once again never learning their lessons and continuing to peddle to the to h elite established. Tsk tsk. Trump will win in 2020, and every bit of fault is on you guys from not learning from your mistakes that have been yelled into your ears the last 4 years.
What unions, the ones the democrats paid lip service to during elections for the last 30+ years and then undercut them by passing all those corporate friendly free trade agreements, and somehow telling all those people losing their union jobs get educated or be cast out was going to keep the democrat party large and in charge?

One example when the UAW went on strike , all the democrat candidates were playing the union advocate grandstanding for votes.

But here is the reality of the situation.

This part number, 23276089, is the ignition switch in a late model Chevy Colorado made in china or mexico like many other parts in that vehicle,

in the heyday of unions those parts would have been made by American union employees who kept the democrats in power by voting for them during elections,

thanks to the say anything for votes but do nothing democrats most of the subcomponents are now made in china or mexico along with all those millions of jobs, but there is one question that our so called union first democrats avoid answering, those people in china and mexico making all those parts today for gm in this example, what local of the UAW do they belong to, what democrat fundraiser did they attend, and last but most important which democrat candidates did they vote for to keep those pro corporate republicans at bay?

You can thank all the mostly big city and coastal democrats with their student loan financed degrees who hate one thing more than republican deplorables, uneducated union democrats making more than them and able to buy bigger toys and bigger homes because of it.

You people deserve Trump more than the Trumpsters themselves do.
Shorter Republican nonsense:

It's the Democratic Party's fault that 62.9 million Republican voters went and voted for an imbecile who doesn't give a fuck about them.

Keep on keepin' on.

Truth suppressing state GOP Media, is what it is. Its that moment in time for you. Truth gonna matter or die forever. Dark taj times ahead.
Have Fox given one minute to Trumps disastrous two first months of covid19 handling? Besides parroting the same lies, only to do a crazy Ivan 180 when he did. No reflection no taking responsibility no remorse. If the audience cant pick that up on their own its truly over

I would explain it by saying that the bump small as it is due to the President's virus response. We are all going to survive, it will pass soon, everybody will be taken care of, and everybody is going to get a check. They can tell that the President is really really really interested in the virus problem, mistakenly assuming his concern is about them, when what is real concern is that it will cost him millions and the election.
This...He did tell everyone that the country is going to loosen up and get back to work soon, so he has given people reason for optimism. It was a way to get adulation at the moment he said it. In terms of predicting what will actually happen by Easter, it means nothing. Its still an abstraction, a matter of opinion, until something happens to someone you know and care about. YOUR loved one in the ICU is not a figment of liberal media fake news. Of course, by May, if and when sickness and fatalities are steadily climbing per day, I imagine that his numbers will start steadily sagging. This seems to be his ultimate kobiyashi-mar-a-lago.

Democrat leadership is wishing and hoping it comes true, they see it as a "tremendous opportunity"
You can't wish for something that is already happening.

Democrats working to protect healthcare works by getting more supplies.

Trump meanwhile just wants to "pack the churches" while the death numbers and positive COVID-19 testing numbers continue to skyrocket, currently outpacing Italy.

What happened to "anyone who wants a test can get a test"? Trump says we are doing better at testing then any other country. Meanwhile...

I think Trump will be fine. Even as the body bags start piling up. Conservatives on facebook that were parroting his accusations of this all being a Democrat hoax are the very same now insisting he's been busting his ass since December to save America from this crisis. You can't reason with these people. Even as the dead mount, they will simply believe this was a freak of nature neither he or anyone ever could have seen coming and will still look to him for salvation.

Just look at Iran. Their corrupt government was facing some of the biggest mass protests it had ever seen. The moment trump killed one of their own however, the protests stopped overnight and even the most outspoken critics rallied to the side of Iran's oppressive government they had been resisting only days earlier. The same happening during 9/11. Half the country hated Bush until the Twin Towers fell, with 90% approval ratings happening right after.

Even that 90% ended up 29% by the time he left office. I still have hope people will wake the fuck up.

If things keep happening that are opposite in what you think should happen, maybe you need to rethink your position.
Now apply that thinking to covid19 & the economy, contrast it with what Trump has been saying.

Yeah...A lot of Trump's support is baked in. If you like him you'll see his coronavirus handling as great even if grandma dies. It was the fucking Chinese cover up that killed her. There is virtually no realistic "what if" scenario that's going to wildly swing these people either way.

But...He is vulnerable, He's only been on the ballot in one election. Sure, he won the electoral college, but he got spanked in the popular vote. A majority of people didn't like him then, and, I think more of a majority of people don't like him today. The electoral victory he scored was precarious. Then in the midterms, while he wasn't on the ballot, it's safe to say he got spanked, and he got spanked in all the right places. He's never been super strong politically, not among the overall general electorate. It's is really frustrating that he is not nearly as weak as he ought to be given his incredibly blatant, obvious unfitness for office. I'm not saying he's going to lose in November, but just because he hasn't gotten taken down (as he should have been) while in office doesn't mean his support is strong.

Not by November. It took seven years for Bush's numbers to fall that low.
Yeh, but he started from a better place & 9/11 was the greatest political windfall since Pearl Harbor.

Trump is currently enjoying record approval rating. Seems like many peple are happy with his response to this pandemic. WTF? I think he's done a horrible job. I just don't get it.

Easy - unfortunately around half of Americans are mentally retarded or blinded by greed.
