There also exist XX males where the SRY gene gets moved from the Y chromosome to one of the X's. The rate is roughly 1 in 20000 births putting it in line with hemophilia B with how common it is. There is also Klinefelters that would include xxy.

What I am saying is this isn't as easy as just looking a genitalia and calling it good. This is also more complicated than just saying, do a genotype on everyone.

When you tell them their hardwired difference doesn't exist and act as if they can just get over it, you are telling them they're "less than." It's not really different than telling a gay/lesbian/bi/pan person that they should be attracted solely to the opposite sex. You're asking them to suppress a fundamental part of who they are.

Besides, as cytg111 just explained, why be mean about it? It doesn't hurt to acknowledge the split between sex and gender even if you're not completely sure about things. But it definitely hurts to insist on calling a trans woman a man to their face. Be a good person and let them live happy lives. It's not that hard.

OK, so if "gender" is the "personal identification of ones own sex" (from Wikipedia), does modifying your body change that? Would it not then be the most accurate to say that someone who is "transgender" is not really changing their "gender", but changing their physical body to try to match their gender?

It’s confusing. Anyone can change their gender identity anytime without changing their physical sex attributes. If i identify as gender neutral or non-binary then I don’t consider myself male or female. If I identify as gender fluid I can feel like a male one day and female the next day. Transgender people want an X option in addition to M and F for sex/gender to represent their varied gender identities.

Most people are born male or female. Sure, there are anomalies that result in intersex, but these are rare. It's pretty much science. Now, if one feels they are the opposite sex, that's OK. It is like gay/lesbian people. They are still biologically one way or the other, but sexuality can be one of many things.

Live and let live, right? Except, does one who identifies as female or trans suddenly get a better shot at getting a job under EEO? The real problem here is that equal opportunity employment should mean just that. Anyone of any race, religion, sex, or disability all get an equal shot at the job.
