There's already a thread about this, plus your title/conclusion are complete nonsense. Removing restrictions on how churches can or can not be active in political campaigns has nothing to do with the US being secular.

This Trump guy is acting like a thug. I don't know but I can see even more turbulence coming. I'm sure this is all by design though.

He's talking about how faith should be intertwined with politics so in a way, he is bringing his version of "religion" into the corrupt political system. We all know the corrupt religious system so I guess it is natural for both of these corrupt systems to combine even more.

This is Citizens United 2.0--and the opposite of draining the swamp. If I'm reading Trump's argument correctly, its not enough for Catholics or Mormons or Baptists to donate to political campaigns directly. The churches they find should be able to use their tax exempt funding for the same purpose, because "churches are people too."

Now if I'm the owner of a privately owned business (say, Koch Industries)...I would be salivating at the prospect of donating millions to "worthy charitable causes" managed by churches, who are then free to donate to campaigns of *our mutual* choosing (I'll talk it over with my pastor at golf!) And hey, I get a tax break too!

lol, you guys and your silly hysterical overreactions to every possible thing. You're going to have to pace yourselves, it's going to be a long 4 or even 8 years!

I don't think Churches should be tax exempt and yet engage in political activities. That's my take. You guys go completely off the deep end as if Trump is talking about installing a government high priest to run the department of religious affiliation or something. Settle down beavis.

It doesn't matter because politicians and religious leaders are equally corrupt and immoral

In fact, it makes sense to totally combine religion and politics because their level of corruption will make it easy to merge the two.
