I think there is a difference between what he could try to do and what would be successful. I don't think the above would be successful but he might try it.

After all we all watched him wind up a mob and send it to Congress to overturn the election for him and kill his own vice president. Though I assume you don't fault him for that.

I don't think this about fumbling. It's about the dictator rigging the midterms. Gerrymandering, ICE/Army in the streets for voter intimidate, voter lists purge in democratic leaning locations, stuffed/swapped ballot boxes...

Rigging elections isn't hard when you have gone totally evil.

That said, Trump might eventually recognize his failing health and install a hand picked successor rather than run in the 2028 sham elections. Or postpone them for the civil war.
