White Americans are now the most likely group to die from COVID, because they are the least likely to stay vaxxed and take precautions.
Remember back when 4 weeks into lockdowns, the media kept talking about how COVID was killing people of color faster, and all of a sudden it was no longer a concern of the GOP? Kushner decided states should be left to fend for themselves as it was a “blue state issue” and the lockdowns were now worse than the virus?
Welp, turns out COVID was killing people of color faster in the early waves in large part because they weren’t getting enough oxygen compared with white patients. See, another study came out and determined that pulse oximeters, the medical devices hospitals rely on to check blood oxygen, well, they were really designed for white people. They don’t work as well for people with darker skin. The net effect was that a darker COVID patient with dangerously low blood oxygen might present a more normal SpO2 reading compared with a white person.
This was less of an issue in later waves, as hospitals became more adept at treating COVID symptoms and more people were vaxxed.
