My step dad is a great cook and he gave me this recipe some time ago and it is great and easy.
Because this forum has been so great to me I thought I would share.

Country Style Barbecued ribs - approximately 11

2 cups ketchup
2 cups water
2 stalks celery (cut fine)
2 tsps salt
1/4 tspn pepper
2 large onions (sliced)
4 tbls worestershire sauce
1/2 cup table vinegar
1/2 cup brown sugar (dark brown = more flavor)
4 tsps dry mustard
1 tbls paprika
1 tsp garlic powder

Add ingredients in order given and start heating sauce. Flour ribs and
brown in oil. Add ribs to sauce in crock pot. Start on high until sauce
is bubbling. Reduce heat to low and cook 6-8 hours, or simmer in heavy
pan for 2 hours turning ribs every 20 minutes.

Enjoy.

Thanks for sharing. Looks easy and good.

Can you expand on this instruction: Flour ribs and brown in oil I assume that means a small amount of oil in a skillet for about 5 mins per side?

My step dad sent me this in an email. I always forget to brown the ribs. Never fails, I put them in there and go crap I forgot to brown the ribs. Haven't died yet.

Yeah you just wash the ribs in water and then flour them, add some cooking oil to a frying pan and cook them a few minutes on each side until the flour looks light brown.

Some quick hints about modding the recipe for size. It works just as well if you want to up it by 1/3 or cut it in half. Just one thing if you cut it in half. Cut everything in half, but the ketchup and water use 1 1/4 cups each instead of just 1 cup.

It is really easy. The hardest part is making the sauce in the beginning. It works great if you work a normal 8 hour day. Just make it in the morning before you head to work and set it on low. By the time you get home it should be done. It's really great over rice.

Good luck,
Mark
