Truly "free" undelete/restore program for erased files

Reformatted hard drive and somehow forgot to save my turbotax tax return file. I know I also had copies on my thumb drive but somehow erased that too. :eek:

All the programs I've tried from download.com don't actually work unless you buy them, even though they may be listed as "free". I'd be willing to purchase if I knew that the program could actually find and restore the file.

Has anyone any experience with this type of problem?

And if it comes to it, you don't really need last years Turbo Tax Return when you do
next years. You will just need to input certain details again. Only time you really need
a prior year, is if you to reference something on it or you have a Loss Carryover to the
next year. I myself, always print a copy of my returns to be kept in my file cabinet.
