truly anonymous p2p?

i was just thinking the other day, is it possible for someone to write a truly anonymous p2p file sharing program? one that organizations such as the riaa and mpaa couldn't find 'john does' off of? maybe something built off the udp layer, which doesnt include source IPs in the packet, that handles the guaranteed transmission at the application layer or something? any thoughts?

the closest thing to what youre describing is waste, which was an ultra secure p2p network made by the guy who invented winamp, AOL time warner forced the project onto the backburner due to legal issues.

It wasnt untraceable, but it was very very secure.

There is no such thing is anonymous p2p.
As others have said, you can use a proxy, which will mask your IP, however, the proxy will likely have at least some type of connection log tracing back to you. Anyone who knows enough and is willing to take the time and effort to obtain access to use multiple proxies, as well as root at least one or two of them in order to have access to "clean up" the logs, in order to be truly "anonymous" isn't going to be wasting all that effort for some silly P2P application.
