worth it?

The guy who called me was very informative and polite.. he really seemed to know what he was doing.. and it 'seems' like their prices aren't much more than I would pay..

aerate - $70. It's $60 a day just to rent an aerator..
fertilize - $44 front and back.. it would cost me ~$30 just for fertilizer..
lime - $20.. would cost me $15...

Don't have them available here, but I did sign up with Clark for their "premium service" last spring, which is pest control, weed control, and all fertilizers and such...My lawn has never looked better...I just can't keep the dammed thing mowed fast enough!!! I used to be able to go 2 weeks between mowings...not anymore...after 3-4 days, it starts looking shaggy and wild...but still the healthiest looking lawn on my street...

Definitely worth it if you don't want to care for your lawn much, but still want it to look great. We are the only ones on the street who use trugreen and have the greenest lawn with no weeds. All I have to do is mow and use a sprinkler when needed.

here there is no contract (I think there is if you don't ask not to be on one.. but there's no cost benefit because of some lawsuit they lost in NJ or something) and my yard is $33 for the front, and $10 more for the back

i would never again recommend trugreen after the way they messed up our lawn and lied to us. they tell us they're going to fertilize the lawn on so and so day, and when that day comes and I come home i realize that they've aerated our lawn... and charged us for it, without notification. they also decided not to tell us that we had some kind of bug in our lawn that was killing all of our grass. so we call and complain, and they tell us that they're going to make it up to us by slip-seeding our lawn. well, they schedule an appointment for a day, and guess what? they never show up. we call them and they say "oh we forgot, here, we'll schedule another day". that day comes, guess what - "oh sorry, we can't make it today, can we schedule again?" This occurred no less than 4 times, when we finally asked to speak to the highest supervisor we could contact. we finally got our lawn re-done and everything, but not without showing us that they were total jerks.

that was long.

cliffs - dont get trugreen

At my last house it was worth it because my two neighbors did such a piss poor job of taking care of their own lawn that I was spending a fortune trying to fight back their weeds with no result. I used Scott's Lawncare and they managed to keep it under control.

I'm using them for my new house too because the previous owner kind of let the yard go and it needs help. Once the yard gets healthy again I will take care of it myself.

They did my yard some good since we put in sod in the winter, and it really needed some help when spring came.

However...

I only used them for one season, that was almost 6 years ago. They still call all the time, regardlesss of me telling them to quit calling, and I get something in the mail at least once every 2 weeks wanting to restart my service.

They did good, but are worse than a stalking ex-girlfriend about leaving you alone afterwards.
