Truetype Fonts and OpenOffice 1.0

I managed to install Arial, Times New Roman, and Tahoma under RH 7.3. KDE recognizes it without any problems and it does show up under the Font drop-down box in OpenOffice 1.0. The fonts render fine, but the BOLD and ITALICS option do not work. It looks just like it does under Windows, but it doesn't BOLD or ITALICIZE. Any clue as to why?

Did you install just the font or the whole font family?

In other words did you install just:

arial.ttf

or

arialbd.ttf
arialbi.ttf
ariali.ttf
arialnbi.ttf
arialnb.ttf
arialni.ttf
arialn.ttf
arial.ttf
arialuni.ttf
arialbld.ttf
arlrdbd.ttf

This is the whole font family that will provide you with the different types of styles on the arial font. Similar on the other fonts.

No problem. I would recommend, that if you have a Windows partition, that you install all of your windows fonts in Linux. It will help you immeasurably.
