Truecar

Any idea if their pricing is reasonably accurate? I'm wondering if I can do much better than what they say is a good price.

Thanks in advance

I think they changed their operation in the last year or two and are working closely with dealers. I wouldn't call their prices the best.

I wouldn't use truecar again if my life depended on it. My experience with them was terrible. They are basically a spam farm that sells your info.

I had dealerships calling me at all hours of the night even as late as 10-11pm badgering me constantly asking me to come in for a look. They had no idea or even seemed to care for what I was looking for in particular. They just wanted me to "get on the lot" so they could get me into something. I ended up having to block a bunch of numbers but it was a complete joke and waste of time. I ended up calling a few (non-truecar) dealerships myself and got even better pricing on my own.

I was just looking at the pricing they came up with. There is no way in hell I'd give them my phone number. Obviously they're going to sell it to every dealer within fifty miles of me, they have to have an income stream from somewhere.

This was my experience. Exactly, to the T.

Had a similar experience when I requested prices for a BRZ. Would get phone calls for a few weeks at all times of the day.

I recently did a request for a 335i and the BMW dealerships did all the communicating by e-mail. Much nicer IMO.

I used them to buy our last car, a 2012 Prius. Things went very smooth for that purchase.

I had other people recommend it so I thought I would try. BIG mistake. Glad I used my google voice number so I set it to do not disturb. Lesson learned though, pretty much any "deal" site out there is most likely a scam.

I'm buying a car now and I can tell you that the super, duper low price that is "rare" to get, to the left of the chart, is indeed as cheap as you can get a car for around here. But, I can get that price without truecar. Granted, I didn't actually submit through truecar but my experience tells me I can't get cheaper than what I'm going to sign for.

I used the site to get a price, then went to the dealer that i wanted to use but was not on their list and said this is the price i can get by going somewhere else, can you match it. They said yes, so they got my business. I did get calls from other dealers, but it was only from 3 that i had selected when i went through the process. If i had been smarter and only selected 1 dealer i would have had less calls. I would use them agian because i feel i got a good deal on the car i wanted.
