As told to me by a close friend. I won't tell places or names, since I haven't gotten permission:

Her brother was looking for a house in this new town. He liked one that was for rent, and got to talking to one of the neighbors, who said they have a hard time keeping it rented b/c it's supposedly haunted. The bro said he didn't care. So he rented it for his family.

One day they're having a big family get-together, and he notices that grandma, who had gotten up to go to the bathroom, is down the hall where it's darker, apparently talking to somebody.
Later after she comes back to the living room, he asks her who she was talking to.
She says it's the lady who used to live here. She commited suicide here.
He asks what she looks like, so the grandma tells him. The description fits the lady he sees sometimes at night when he wakes up, standing in their bedroom. Grandma tells him that she was the wife of a certain former politician.

The next day the brother goes to the library and goes through old newspapers. He finally finds a picture of this politician with his wife--the same woman he sees in his bedroom.
This explains why his son comes into their bedroom every night at the same time, saying he's scared.
Grandma said the lady commented that the boy reminded her of her son, and she would go in and look at him, and stoke his face with her finger.

So I asked my friend, wasn't your grandma kind of freaked out talking to a ghost?
She says no, not really; that when she little they used to get scarred listening to grandma talking. It wasn't unusual for grandma to get visits from her departed friends. My friend says that grandma would get up and open the front door and have a happy animated conversation
with her departed friend, then when they were done (they stayed at the front door), she would say goodbye, shut the door and that was it, just like your next door neighbor had just dropped by.
Friend says that the country grandma came from, that wasn't all that unusual.

But it still freaks her out.

Oh yeah, the woman asked that they find her husband and ask him to go to a church and pray for her, so she can be released from the house. They tried for some time to find him, but eventually gave up.
