Hi everyone,

I'm looking for user experiences w/ true x4-x8 pci-e raid controllers.

I've found the following controllers:

Sata:

3Ware 9590SE-8ML $505 pci-e-4x slot
http://www.3ware.com/products/serial_ata2-9590.asp

LSI MegaRaid Sata 300-8ELP pci-e-4x slot
http://www.lsilogic.com/storage_home/pr...sata/megaraid_sata_300_4xlp/index.html

SCSI:

LSI MegaRAID SCSI 320-2E pci-e-4-8x slot
http://www.lsilogic.com/storage_home/pr...id_scsi/megaraid_scsi_3202e/index.html

Will be using RedHat ES 4.0 Linux ...

I'd like to know how you liked these cards because I'd like to switch from 64bit pci-x to pci-e for future builds.

Regards,
Jose

Checkout Areca PCIe cards. They are 8x.

I have the 1280ML, have not tried it out yet though, plan to in next couple weeks.

It doesn't look to have good Linux support, on 1st rev. of drivers.

Looks like you'd have to build your own kernel ?

I'd like one w/ direct kernel support like the 3ware card.

Jose

Fixed for ya... And for the record, I'll be getting a Areca ARC -1210 here pretty soon, but I have no intention using Linux with it, so even then it will be useless to you....
