I have a 2500+ Mobile on an A7N8X-E board running at Vcore 1.65 clocked at 200 x 11. It runs at about 44C reg and 52 or so under load. How do people keep temps below like 45 or so under load? I'd like to do that if possible.

I have a SLK-947U with an Antec 80 MM fan. Will upgrade to Vantec 92 MM fan soon.

Motherboard temps are off by 25C that's how. They are widly inaccurate.

they CAN be way off, i know personally mine's fairly accurate based on many experiences with different cpus and cooling situations. plus the onboard core diodes are usually very good at temp readings.

I have an A7N8X-E MB. It gives me both the MB temp and the CPU temp. The 52C under load is the CPU temp. Any idea how to decrease?

get rid of that 80mm fan pronto, 92mm is what you want for that SLK. more case fans. re-seat the heatsink with a nice thermal interface material such as arctic silver 5.

also, heat is whats holding you back. you need to keep temps below 50C to keep most stability when overclocking barton cores.

42C max for me = 2.6ghz@1.825volts with your same stepping.

hmm, ill have to make the switch to a 92 then.
sometimes i run the YSTech 80mm at full crank when im gaming or running folding (and not sitting in front of it getting a headache)... so whats a good quiet 92mm that will output more air than my 80mm maxed out all the way?
this is my first delve into the world of 92mm fans haha..

well i don't even know how many CFM your 80mm puts out :) its not so much the CFM,its the air pressure and area it hits thats also important. even if you got a 92mm that puts out less CFM than your 80mm,it will still probably cool your heatsink much better because it pushing air over a greater surface area.

once i get my SP-97 in,i intend to use a 90mm Thermaltake fan i got from newegg, 57cfm@34 or so db,nearly silent.

edit: link

would general concencus be that this is a good fan reccommendation, coming from my YSTech adjustable 80mm? I liked that my old one was adjustable, i mounted the dial on the front of my case all nice and neat :)
anyway...i have to place a newegg order TODAY so itd be good if you guys could give me a few options that would be smart with the SLK-947u on a 2400+ mobile im trying to push past 2500 stable.

If you are going for max performance then the Vantec 92mm Tornado is the best, but LOUD unless you keep that little voltage dial from the old fan in place. Personally I have a Panaflo FBA09A12M (48CFM at 30dba). They are available at svc.com. My system is running at 2400Mhz (2500 Mobile) @ 1.65v. Temps are about 45C idle. 2500Mhz is doable at 1.85v but I am more comforatable with the 1.65v.

max voltage for me on air that i used was 1.95...

under my prommy, i keep it at 2.06 volts and i've had no hiccups!

i was just looking at that very same fan, the Tornado...

I guess that is pretty damn loud, and the unfortunate thing is that the dial I have in place is actually sorta PART of the YSTech fan Im using now... the lead for the dial actually connects to the fan... im not sure how id wire that into a new fan at all... :(

so im not sure what to do. otherwise i would go for that fan...
